#86/365 Post Process Fridays episode #9. This week features a photo from Kevin aka mischiru (who I am pretty sure the official photographer of Hong Kong). I loved this shot when I first saw it..it totally reminded me of Blade Runner. His version is a bit darker and desaturated which is probably more in line with the Blade Runner theme. I was originally sent the processed jpg so I made it my goal to see how much color I could pull out of it but still leave it cool. I must say I was pretty impressed with the amount of color I did get out (this was with a jpg too). I sooo want to go to Hong Kong one day. TGIF!

RIP, Rutger Hauer. Gone like your iconic character in 2019, but never forgotten.

This is a shot of a Lamborghini taken at the 2007 Concours d'Elegance car show at Meadowbrook Hall. This car was not really part of the show itself but one of several cars brought by high end auto dealers. I liked the combination of the black and red along with the raindrops from earlier in the day.

The Blades are a British civilian aerobatic team based at the Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire. They have been described as "the world's only aerobatic airline" and are the only full-time civilian aerobatic team in the United Kingdom.

The team fly four Extra 300LPs and an Extra 330SC, the latter being used for solo sections of the performances.

This is Berlin on New Years Eve. The Sony Center is a great place to be at.

At night time the whole place is lightened with different colors. The Photo is slightly surreal at least more than my previous uploads but I really like how the processing turned out. Especially the glowing lights you can see on the right and the lower parts give a special touch to this shot!

You might say this photo has too much saturation but in this case you have to believe me. It is crazy colored in the Sony Center.

Still having a lot of work to do. I work part time as a teacher for school kids in Robotics which is actually my occupation when I am finished with my Master. The three days to come the Kids are fighting to qualify themselves for the German Robocup. This is a competition where the best schools compete on each other. The winners are supposed to compete with the best schools from all over the world.

This year the World Championship in the Robocup will be held in Mexico. You can bet that I as a traveler have large interests for them to qualify for the Championship. If they do I promise you to bring you some cool photos from Central America and hopefully South America. I will keep you updated on this every now and then. So if you have a prayerSend if for me and my pupils!

So far thanks for the overwhelming response to my images. I am happy to read from all of you even though it is tough to comment back on all your streams. Please don’t be angry if it takes some time for me to come back to your stream.

Until then have a blessed week everyone out there in the Wide Flickr World.

While the Blood Iron assassins mostly struck their targets in their homes and rarely engaged in open combat, they still utilized a variety of vehicles. The backbone of their activities were aircrafts called Blades. The name Blade stem from both, the Blood Iron’s affinity with swords and the peculiar silhouette of the aircraft. It consisted mostly of two enormous engines and the thin main shaft on which they were mounted. While not heavily armed or armored, the Blade was perfectly suited for the Blood Irons, because it could get them to their target quickly and back home even quicker. The craft could carry two Blood Iron Assassins, who hang from the main shaft in hammock like cockpits. In case of emergency those cockpits could be detached and functioned as a kind of escape pod. Different kind of pods could be attached, some featuring weapons like machine guns and rocket launchers. Besides that, the craft featured elaborate landing gear, necessary to support the enormous weight of the engines, when not in flight. Of course, these crafts were only seldomly seen by anyone, as the assassins usually got away before any of their targets or their guards even noticed their presence, only hearing the faint roar of the engines as the craft vanished into the sky.

Here's a vehicle for my faction, the Blood Irons, for round 2 of the Figbarfcentral and Infernolug #scififactioncontest

This was a joy to build and worked out just as planned from the first concept sketch to the final photos.

Stay tuned for more builds related to the Blood Irons in the rounds to come!

Based off of the Spinner from Blade Runner, but meant to fit in something more like Akira or Bubblegum Crisis. My lack of blue pieces is saddening. :(

Hats off to Legosamurai and his QuadraTank for that rad back wheel design.

Seven Identical aperture blades are arranged in a circular fashion to create the aperture mechanism for the pictured Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM lens.

The front lens element above the seven aperture blades is a hair over 12mm ( .5" ) in diameter, and the entire lens housing measures 60mm ( 2.375"). The center heptagon ( the aperture opening which is f/22) is about 1 mm in diameter...

The Canon EOS M3 APS-C sensor dimensions are 22.3 x 14.9 mm, and this photograph is NOT cropped and is a true 1:1 magnification macro photograph.

These are the swords we built for BW this year. They were inspired both by Sean's epic sword and the wing piece. :) It was rather fun playing with the handle in order to fill up all the holes but it came at the expense of stability (and several other builds I wanted to build xP). In the end you can only hold this sword in one way or it'll break in half. xD

For 34 years I've waited for the the sequel to the best film ever made; Blade Runner - the wait is nearly over!

This is a scene from the movie "Blade Runner", that I've painted in acrylic for my son Andrew. I'm going to a fancy dress party on Saturday night in an old posh club downtown that might offer me some good photo ops to paint . I feel really inspired after doing this scene.

Just a little build for Blade Runner 2049, I'm really excited for the movie Blade Runner was a amazing movie. I hope the new one can live up to the old one.

För helvete..the clipping.

What shaped up to be one of the most intense chases in recent memory started 1,600 miles away from home. As John and I were driving down to La Junta from Kansas City, we received a disheartening tip that there had been a landslide on the Glorieta Pass. Some 500 miles into our trek across the Southwest plains we were left wondering if it was in vain. Would the line be cleared in time...and would the trains be running in time for our chase? Well, turns out the BNSF had a gang of 50 men working throughout the night to clear the massive boulder off of the rails. Come sunrise, it was show time. At 0800, train no. 3 the westbound "Southwest Chief" pulled into the station at La Junta - right on time! At La Junta, veteran photographer John Gruber got off the train, hopped into John Ryan's Grand Marquis and we were off to 'Blades Country'. Now, things were starting to shape up for us - the sun was shining and the train was on time but then we got to Delhi. Well, there is another story in itself here but I'll save this one for a future post. Anyhow, after a shakeup at Delhi it was a mad dash to Trinidad. By the time we got to Starksville we had caught back up with the train. From Starksville to Raton, we enjoyed a leisurely chase over the scenic Raton Pass. West of Raton, it was pedal to the metal. Contending with an 90 MPH train, we rushed to the Robinson intermediates in Springer, New Mexico. At Robinson, we caught the Southwest Chief splitting the classic semaphore signals and shaking up wild sunflowers along the truly classic Raton Subdivision. From Robinson, the chase continued to Santa Fe where many more memories were made.

The Ōya stone used to be cut by double bladed stone saws. Operating them must have been quite scary.

Der Ōya Stein wurde mit zweiarmigen Steinsägen aus dem Fels geschnitten. Die Bedienung muß ziemlich respekteinflößend gewesen sein.

Here is a closer look at the semaphore signal in Springfield, OH. As you can see the blade has seen better days. Decades of exposure to the elements and lack of maintenance have pretty much taken its toll. Since it's a fixed semaphore, no mechanical parts are needed. It may not be as pretty as the blades in New Mexico, but a blade's a blade, and the I&O are lucky to have them.

It was inevitable. Sooner or later I just had to fall into the HDR pit. You need a lot of light to make a good (or at least realistic) HDR, so I should have chosen a better one for my first. But the blades looked kind of cool, so here we go.
