two talented artists, who are also my neighbors--seen working on a quote for their art project which can be seen along the gates crossing the Franklin Avenue shuttle

I didn't realize that part of the process involves spending time poring through books for inspiration
I didn't sharpen the photo or add much contrast. Brightened the eyes and smile a touch, skin tone, and levels a bit too. Did my best in post to present a accurate pleasing portrait.
The artist is from Ghana. Truly a great sculptor. He was very friendly. A wonderful person whose sculptures are powerful, gut wrenching, provoke deep reflection, and make us more aware of the terrible suffering the black race has endured. . . .
Black soldiers served in every war our nation has ever fought in. And still this noble race of people, who just want to be equal suffers indignations. I never forgot the kindness showed me by the black race, and black soldiers while stationed overseas and in deep south Alabama in the early seventies and early eighties.
what I like most about the sculptures of Brooklyn based artist Louella Jones is the hair: often with locs, but most often natural texture, and the proud display of African features

This charming Queen Anne-style cottage in Columbus, Georgia is the birthplace and childhood home of Alma Woodsey Thomas, a pioneering Black artist celebrated for her vibrant abstract paintings. Nestled among lush greenery and adorned with ornate woodwork, the house stands as a testament to Thomas’s early years and the environment that nurtured her creativity. Today, the residence is a meaningful landmark, honoring Thomas’s legacy and her significant contributions to American art and culture.

In any image of a human being, in some ways we are confronting ourselves when we view it.
Why do faces intrigue us? Regardless of the answer, and regardless if we admire and look at faces, we still are willing to draw differences between us . . . race, education, gender, etc. Yet we retain our interest in faces and other people.
We are very strange.
Powerful sculpture by black artist, Kwame Akoto-Bamfo. There is a lot more to the sculpture. It is gripping and gut wrenching. It was in Times Square for one day with the great artist. I feel honored to have met him.
