From the Daily Mirror, Wednesday 07/06/06. Ching the cat, pictured, entered the UK illegally having boarded a container ship in a Chinese port. She survived the 8,000 mile journey by eating cardboard and drinking condensation, and is now being detailed by British quarantine officials - and not, as would be proper, our Department for Immigration.
After quarantine is completed, she'll go to live with David French, the boss of the crockery company whose cardboard packaging Ching mercilessly destroyed.
Neither Ching nor the Labour official who should have thrown the cat back to China could be reached for comment.
Update: Didn't think of this before, but surely there's some unlucky Chinese family who are now missing a cat. Think of the children!

Biometric safes are ones that use a biometric scanner to grant access. A biometric scanner is a locking device that grants access based on some uniquely identifiable physical attribute, such as the pattern of the iris or retina in the eye, handprint, or fingerprint. Biometric safes use fingerprint scanners for convenience, security, and safety. Eye scanners would not be very convenient, and although completely safe, some people would object to having their eye scanned by a laser.

Today I was mostly on her britannic majesty's service... doing stuff. This is my new biometric passport... it comes with a little note saying it contains an antennae! Are they tracking me? Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you... uh oh!
Google Photos will soon let iPhone and Android users save their photos behind a biometrically protected locked folder as Google pushes for greater privacy features on mobile. It’s a nice way to get some peace of mind and keep sensitive personal photos off the cloud.
Locked Folder is a feature Google introduced for Pixels earlier this year that lets them hide sensitive photos out of view. If a photo is hidden away behind a “locked folder,” it won’t show up. It’s a lot like the hidden album feature on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, but with the benefit of password or biometric protection. Images in the locked folder also aren’t synced to Google Photos but are restricted to the device used. Locked Folder will come to iPhones early next year, while non-Pixel Android users will have it sometime “soon.”
Google also announced a package of other features it is bringing to Android phones and Pixel devices specifically. For Pixels, the company is adding a new Security Hub. This was first seen on the Google Pixel 6 as a mobile tool that brings all your security features into one place. You’ll be able to see if you’re overdue for a security or software update and if you have a malicious app installed, as well as check your passwords for breaches. This comes alongside the new Privacy dashboard in Android 12 that highlights which apps have accessed your location, camera, or microphone in an easy-to-view interface.
