Biofeedback is a technology that is used to help people learn to manage stress more effectively by showing them changes in their physiology. When you see how your muscle tension, breathing, sweat, skin temperature, heart rate, and brain wave activity are changing moment to moment you can learn how to control them to improve your health, wellness, and performance

This biofeedback processor was used along with a 4-channel biofeedback amplifier manufactured by J&J. This unit plugged directly into the Commodore-64 Computer. When the computer was switched on, the firmware in the CAB2 unit booted the computer and went directly to the software program. The firmware was recorded on the 512K eprom on the above pc board.

The CAB2 hardware and software was designed by Discrete Data Systems, Inc.

The number of channels displayed on the screen was determined by the 16-pin dip switch in the upper right hand corner of the pc board. The primary processor is the 40-pin Motorola 6525 chip.

Pierre Wilkins, a social worker with the Army Substance Abuse Program, demonstrates use of the biofeedback equipment at Moncrief Army Community Hospital. The screen shows images that are designed to either increase or reduce stress in the participant. Throughout the biofeedback sessions, participants learn how to control their reaction to stressors.
