Clicked at the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary in Wayanad district, which is barely 130 kilometers from my home. Rich in bio-diversity, the sanctuary is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, which has been established with the specific objective of conserving the biological heritage of the region. The Grey Junglefowl, often referred to as Sonnerat's Junglefowl, is one of the wild ancestors of domestic fowl together with the Red Junglefowl and other Junglefowls. An interesting tidbit is that a gene from this Junglefowl is responsible for the yellow pigment in the legs and different body parts of all the domesticated chicken. This species is endemic to India, and even today it is found mainly in peninsular India.

'Cause I don't have a wooden heart
A public holiday in Berlin and Treptower Park this afternoon was full of people enjoying the spring sun. I was so delighted to hear the sound of the bagpipes playing over the boom boxes. The Skye Boat Song and Flower of Scotland were a delight. Wooden Heart by Elvis made my heart sing. I am in Berlin.
These flora portraits are my passion and delight. My pictures are daylight, made in city green spaces, with virtually no post processing. I like to stand still and look at what I would have missed if I wasn’t making a picture.

Green Willow | Berlin | April 2021
One of those days where pictures just seem to fall into my lens. Growing in a cemetery on the banks of the river Spree I have noticed this little tree from the other bank for several seasons now. Finally I made it across to the other side. It was worth it. Despite being overly conscious of the lean out over the river to make this I had a sense at the time that I was going to make a picture I was pleased with. I choose to not share many pictures. I print and exhibit even less. I want to be convinced by a picture before I share it. Is it the best I can make of this subject?

250/365 Unravel
Spent the afternoon wandering through the Ogród Botaniczny (Botanical Gardens) admiring all of the beautiful bio-diversity. Amazing collection of plants, flowers and trees. Inspired by the unraveling fern fronds to look just a bit closer and discover the underlying beauty easily missed or overlooked. If you not yet been to the gardens..I recommend that you do. :)

Andy Marvell, What a Marvel
Andrew Marvell (1621-1678) was a British born Metaphysical Poet, satirist and politician. The Garden is one of his most celebrated works. I heard it again while listening to an audio book while in the bath the other day. Not as such a metaphysical experience but it was jolly nice.
