For the BQS. Any advice on borders/binding? I am thinking just a binding as it is so 'lively'. What do you think - a solid? Or something dotty? More info and questions here:

Further experimentation with Japanese Stab Binding patterns. Each binding in this set is progressively complex. At the same time, the color of each binding moves through the spectrum from red to violet.

A cafe in Germany, where we traipsed about during our 6-hour layover in Frankfurt (on the flight back to the US from Turkey).
If you're interested in seeing my pics from Turkey (and a few from our Germany layover), my photoblog of the trip is here: snapshotsofturkey.blogspot.com/

"Macro Mondays" "Mostly White"
Most books are mostly white. If it is not illustrated, colour is usually limited to the binding. This particular book happens to be "Road Ends" by one of my favourite authors, Mary Lawson.

I made this for my aunt for Christmas. I used two Moda jelly rolls (Arcadia and a white solid roll) to make this random quilt I cut center strips out of the white and Arcadia rolls and then cut strips of the other to create a square or rectangular box. Because all the jelly roll strips are the same width, all my blocks were the same width, just different heights. And no seams to match up!
I used strips for the Arcadia roll for the binding and some of the Arcadia yardage for the back. I love how this one turned out and my aunt is happy with it, too.
Had a two day course at West Dean College this week with tutor Rachel Ward-Sale. This was the first book I made on the course. I didn't make the marbled paper.
Yes, it's true that I started this table runner before Halloween of last year, hoping to finish it before Oct. 31. But hey, life happens, right? It's ready for Halloween 2014! Text fabrics on pumpkin and on binding by Kumiko Fujita, as is the fpp pattern for the pumpkin.
I realized I never have taken a picture of my pinwheel sampler with the sashing and scrappy border added. This is a huge quilt top so I had to borrow Kati's (fromthebluechair) great corner photo idea because I had no place else to hang it. I just love how this top turned out with all of the fun pinwheels and the extra special Double Circle of Flying Geese design by Lynne of Lily's Quilts. Many of the blocks were inspired by all of the wonderful pinwheel quilts posted on flickr, and expecially the wonderful QAL from Rachel of psiquilt. I have the fabric for the backing and the binding...now to get this one finished :o)
