Alas, the binding. I hand bound it. All 330" of it. I determined that to bind about 18" of quilt, it takes me about 10 minutes from cutting the thread and threading the needle to tying the knot and pulling the needle out. And I do find it relaxing. And QUITE enjoyable because I get to manipulate every inch of the binding to make sure it is PERfect.

...unlike my failed macine binding attempt...

On my way to the deep blue sky.

You bind my track, hold me back.

No matter where i go,

I always think about you.

Sheet of paper that initially came with the leather case that held a discharge certificate. It reads “Keep your discharge clean. A discharge from the service is a lifetime honor...” and is usually disposed of after discharge has been placed in the leather case, 1919.

Bind us together Lord, bind us together with cords that will not be broken.

Colossians 3:13-15

13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

In all that we see

lies what we truly are,

the grace of outstretched wings

against a backdrop of eternal blue sky

drifting down to us slowly

as rain reconstructed

from the tears we have shed.

Hate and love bind us

in an embrace of deceit

and discontent which we cling to

with all that we have

because there simply isn't any more

than these nights of hesitant confessions

and days of sundrenched sadness

which our fear would never let us betray.

If true love burns within us

it is for that which lies too far from reach

or for that which is but misled perception

when the truth is that these embers

are no more than ashes

warmed by the very hands that hold them.

We live in a city of angels by the sea

where the world around us sparkles

with the light from the waves

which silence our cries.

And though our dreams

may draw our minds

momentarily from this grief

it is never our weary feet

which seem to leave the ground.

I know it's fun taking puff on a cigar in the park, but I really don't like someone left the shit like this here, an inch away from a bench.
