An Arabic-style structure built in 1927 that is a glowing red on the outside and decorated with glazed tile and bas-reliefs in the exquisite Nazarite tradition. Fountains, a heritage from the Muslim culture, flank the castle, and its exterior commands magnificent views of the Benalmádena beaches Benalmadena Spain sept 2018
El castillo El-Bil-Bil es un edificio situado en Benalmádena, Málaga, diseñado por el arquitecto Enrique Atencia. Su estilo árabe de enlucido rojo en su exterior y decorado con azulejo y bajorrelieves lo han convertido en un icono del municipio y de toda la Costa del Sol. Destacan sus puertas con triple arco de herradura y su iluminación nocturna. Sus jardines exteriores, fuentes y palmeras (fruto de reformas posteriores) complementan su estilo árabe.
El edificio fue construido en 1927, impulsado por el matrimonio de León y Fernanda Hermann. Más adelante la familia estadounidense Schentrom lo adquirió y terminó las obras, convirtiéndose asà en residencia de William Schenstrom, su mujer Elsie y el hijo de ambos, William también. Se considera que el nombre del Castillo procede de las iniciales de los nombres de la familia Schentrom. El por Elsie y el doble Bil por los dos William.

Castillo Bil Bil, o playa Bil Bil.
Ambos nombres son mencionados según lo que se lea y en que medios. Dejaremos que sea el espectador o visitante que decida si Castillo o playa. Visible desde cualquier punto de la playa y rodeado de palmeras, luce un singular colorido rojo. Construido en 1927 en la actualidad lo ocupa una oficina del ayuntamiento local y es un centro de cultura, el estilo como puede verse es árabe. Situado entre Arroyo de la Miel y la playa de Santa Ana.
Bil Bil Castle, or Bil Bil Beach.
Both names are mentioned depending on what is read and in what media. We will leave it to the viewer or visitor to decide whether it´s the Castle or the beach. Visible from anywhere on the beach and surrounded by palm trees, it look in red color. Built in 1927, it is currently occupied by a local town hall office and is a center of culture, the style as you can see is Arabic. Located between Arroyo de la Miel and Santa Ana beach.

Bil-Bil Castle has a romantic history. It was built by a Spanish merchant for his moorish bride who was pining for her homeland across the Mediterraen Sea. He reproduced a moorish house to make his bride feel at home.
It is a beautiful example of a well to do Moorish house, complete with indoor courtyard, Fine plasterwork and a wonderful garden filled with fountains and running water .
There are regular art exhibitions held there now. It isd situated on a headland with the waves crashing all around., looking across to her beloved North Africa.
Bil-Bil Castle is a Neo-Arab style building that Leon and Fernanda Hermann ordered built. The architect was Enrique Atencia and the building was finished in 1934. However the owners were never able to live in it because the Spanish Civil War started in 1936. Later an American bought it and lived in it with his family. His first name was William and he had a son with the same name. Since his nickname was Bill, the neighbors started calling the building Bil-Bil. The building was remodeled in the 1990’s.
The building is painted red and the exterior is decorated with attractive tile. There are gardens with fountains and there is a beautiful view of the beaches.
