I finished this photo three different ways and this is the version that worked. In the color version, the details got lost in the details. This particular processing diminished the peripheral details, leaving the center of the photo more manageable to the eye. A photographic situation in which less is more.
It was a busy night at Holland State Park! I was fortunate to get a shot of the lighthouse without people in front of it. The distant thunderhead was the only cloud in the sky.
Yea I could post a hundred more of this beautiful bird but I'll resist. This is at Fort DeSoto Beach Fla.
Since the weather here has been dull and I haven't been out much, I pulled this one out from the archives. It's one of my favorites. We don't see bucks like this anymore around here and this one is long gone. His fur was a reddish colour, which in the right lighting was really beautiful.
Last light on "Big Red" the iconic sand dune located 35 km west of Birdsville. With all roads to Birdsville closed due to rain and the Simpson Desert track also closed the dune was in pristine condition and all ours. No footprints, except ours and no tyre tracks except ours. Just a perfect place and time to watch the sun go down.
#WorldWatercolorMonth2023 Prompt: Element.
Did you know one element making Secretariat arguably the most successful race horses in history was a heart that weighed between 21-22 pounds, over 2 and a half times the size of the average horse heart?
Well, I tried to use the style of Eyvind Earle’s Three Noble Horses on photographs of Secretariat and ended up with something that’s still much my own style. It will be interesting to see what I retain of this going forward.

A stunning sunset at Big Red and perfect timing as our friend Dustin Maleski is down for a visit and some photography.
Please enjoy the fiery details in Large. Thank you so much for your visit!
Here is the side view of this collapsed barn. From the front at a distance, I wondered whether the metal roof may have been put on an already collapsed barn to gain some additional time. However, it is obvious from the side view that the metal roof had been in place at the time of the collapse. It may have contributed to the odd pattern of collapse where the east side of the "spine" of the barn collapsed but the sides remained standing (with the help of some buttressing boards). A novelty among the many collapses that I have seen.
I was hoping for a nice sunset when I headed out to Big Red Lighthouse two weekends ago. Clouds moved in and I never was able to capture the sun setting over Lake Michigan, but I did capture a few photos of Big Red before dark.

The historic Big Red Lighthouse on the shores of Lake Michigan at the entrance to Macatawa Bay in Holland Michigan. A picnic area under a tree provides an interesting background across the bay from the Lighthouse.

A photography trip to Florida would not be complete without seeing "Big Red" of Fort DeSoto Beach. I've been photographing here for years and Big Red never disappoints. His antics are so fun to watch and photograph.
Yes, I was at Fort Desoto. Has been a long time since I was there and much of the landscape had changed. One thing is consistent and is the Reddish Egrets. Big Red had two guys following him around for hours. I hoped he would do his normal route and end up against the mangroves. I was right.
This lighthouse in Holland Michigan is one of the most iconic in the state. We have a bunch - all varieties - more than any other state.

Disclaimers: I took this photo at Dusk and Hand Held, which resulted in a Duel Image (Ghost) due to Camera Shake. I sharpened it with Photoshop to the best of my ability, however, it still rates as a Reject Photo. Still, I decided to Post it, because it was the best of only four Photos I took of this lighthouse, and I still wanted to post it on flickr™.
I took this photo on October 18, 2004 with my Minolta Maxxim 5000 SLR using Slide Film, when I was just learning photograph; so they are very soft & grainy. I scanned the Slide and used Photoshop Elements to correct the exposure and to generate this Digital Image
