It does not get better then this. My one wish in life is to take this picture over and over every year. I know that is not possible, but capturing pure joy is, well, pure joy. Take care everyone. And here is the link to the first Roller Coaster Happiness, flic.kr/p/PZuBW1

Today's photo tour sends us to the roof of the Disney Contemporary Resort Hotel for an aerial shot of the Magic Kingdom. This area goes down as one of my all time favorite spots to take photographs in all of Walt Disney World. The sunset was perfect that night, with a beautiful, orange colored sky. If you're looking to get this shot, you have to have reservations at the California Grill because they just don't let anybody up there to take pictures. Also, this is just another example of what your kit lens can do for you. Who else has ever enjoyed this amazing view before? Have a magical and safe holiday weekend!
It's been a while since I have posted a Disney photo, so here is the backside of Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland that I shot with Charlotte Morgan last April
The recent rash of mine robberies across the country has led Honest Abe and his team of heroes to Big Thunder Mountain. Here they find the Rowdy Doody gang in the process of stealing all the dynamite!
Abe and John Henry attempt to stop Rowdy Doody and Mr. Greenjeans from getting away aboard the mine train filled with the dynamite while Ulysses, Geronimo and Tommy Edison work to rescue a lone hostage, the old prospector "Kangaroo" Gus and his mule Mickey.
The members of the Rowdy Doody Gang find themselves pinned down, so Buffalo Bob tells Cobb to send in his pet, Zeke the black bear. Ulysses wants Geronimo to shoot the bear with his rifle but he refuses. Instead Geronimo attempts to use his mystical shaman powers to commune with the bear and explain that they mean it no harm. Mickey the mule doesn't care for the approach of the bear and begins bucking in an attempt to escape.
Brave Ulysses, always the impulsive one, decides now is the time to make his charge as Tommy Edison covers him with his trusty slingshot.
Can Abe and his team stop the run away train, prevent the dynamite from detonating, round up the Rowdy Doody Gang, rescue "Kangaroo" Gus, calm down poor Mickey the mule, and avoid being mauled by a bear?!
Tune in next time!

Located in Frontierland in the mythical town of Thunder Mesa, I believe this is the best version of Big Thunder Mountain ever built. The entire attraction is on an island in the center of the Rivers of the Far West
Even though I live right up the freeway from Disneyland, I had to wait about three years to try this shot as the planets have to align for the Mark Twain to be in that spot with it's lights on during the fireworks. During Fantasmic, the Mark Twain is parked behind the island and wouldn't be visible during the fireworks. Also, if the Mark Twain has guests on board and will be making additional trips after the fireworks, they will generally turn the lights off so that the guests can see the fireworks on board. So essentially, to get this particular view, you need a night when the park closes early and they still have a fireworks show without a Fantasmic performance. This was taken June 3 at around 8:45 PM just before the park closed at 9 PM for Grad Night.

Today's photo tours takes us back to the Magic Kingdom for a shot of Big thunder Mountain Railroad. What I really love about this photo is the reflection in the water. I like those "non-windy" nights because the water is calm and there are no ripples in the water. Where do you go in Disney when you want to get that perfect water reflection for your shot? Have a magical day!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a mine train roller coaster located in Frontier land at Magic Kingdom Orlando FL.
Here is a different view of Big Thunder Mountain at Disney's Magic Kingdom. A view you can only seen from the Liberty Belle while she sails around Tom Sawyer Island. Big Thunder Mountain is a fun roller coaster with a wild west theme.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a mine train roller coaster located in Frontierland at several Disneyland-style Disney Parksworldwide.
Today's photo tour sends us to Fronteirland for a shot of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad during a beautiful sunset. What I love about shooting from this area is the awesome reflections you get off the water. On a calm day, the reflections in the water are near perfect. Have you ever shot from this area before? Have a magical day!
The backside of big Thunder Mountain is so overlooked and it's mainly because the only time you can fully appreciate this area is from the train ride around the park. There is so much detail and thought that went into the theming of this that I wish they would have made a walking path around it so you could fully enjoy it. What do you guys think? Have a magical day!
Tokyo Disney Resort is the only Disney Resort that is not allowed tripod to be used inside the parks. This rule really makes a huge disadvantage for photographers to capture scenic moments of the parks. However, the parks does look much much better without tripods using all around the corners. I was really lucky to capture this photo; Since, BTM was momentary broken and it resumed after that, so I was the first guest to enter the queue, and no one was actually at Westernland because of its stop. I placed my camera on the fence and rock structure to capture this image, and since the queue is made by wood, it will shake if guests keep coming to the queue... luckily, no one was there. :DD You can see from my image, people were rushing to BTMRR when I did the exposure. Haha!!!
P/s: When I finished taking this image, and few more, I had to wait 20 minutes to ride the mine train. After that, I checked the sign and it showed '70 minutes'. So you can imagine how crazy Tokyo Disneyland is!!
I was going through old folders of photos and found several that I had forgotten about.
Not that this shot is all that spectacular but it was a very unique evening. Several of us had been jockying for interesting positions along Big Thunder to shoot the fireworks and Patti & I quicky realized that the spot we had picked was a bust. We hustled up to the exit and set up our tripods when the CM working told us we couldn't set up there.
This is where it gets good. He said that we couldn't set up our tripods near the exit because of people walking by but he didn't mind if we went through the gate and onto a CM walkway in the bushes and set up there, as long as we were quiet and didn't tell anyone. It still wasn't the greatest location but it was a lot of fun to shoot from a spot we normally can't get into and with no one around us.

Capture of "Run-a-way Mine Train" on Big Thunder Mountain at Walt Disney World.
It's no surprise that I love taking Disney photos but I really love taking Disney photos with water reflections. On a calm day, when the water is still, it's almost a mirror reflection. You could turn the picture 180 degrees and not even notice the difference. Please enjoy and have a magical day!
The itsy bitsy spider crawled up the water spout.
Along came my hand and knocked the spider out
Sprawled on the ground all it could do is wish
That the bottom of my shoe would miraculously miss
It didn't.
View on black or suffer the fate of the spider

Today's photo tour sends us to Frontierland for a shot of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at the Magic Kingdom. Not only is this a great attraction to photograph but it's also amazing to ride as well. Anybody can build a coaster but not everybody can build a coaster with a great themed area as well. Disney did not disappoint when they built this one. What's your favorite themed coaster in Disney World? Have a magical day!
Today's photo tour sends us to the Magic Kingdom for a shot of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This is such a great area to shoot at night because it is one of the less crowded sections of the park. I like to go to the exit and set up my tripod to get that ultimate shot. Where do you like to photograph this ride from? Have a magical day!

You can always feed off your friends for some great ideas. For this shot, I decided to try to capture the trains in three different shots and merge them together. I think I was pretty successful in doing so, so I think there are more of these photos in my future. Have a magical day!
Today's photo tour sends us to the Magic Kingdom for a shot of Big Thunder Mountain. The sky for this shot was pretty epic with some dark, puffy clouds. I really like how the trees and the foreground plants frame Big Thunder Mountain. It really makes for a different and unique kind of shot. Please enjoy and have a magical day!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a mine train roller coaster located within Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom (the version seen in the photograph above) at Walt Disney World in Florida. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was designed by Imagineer Tony Baxter and ride design engineer Bill Watkins. The concept came from Baxter's work on fellow Imagineer Marc Davis's concept for the Western River Expedition, a western-themed pavilion at the Magic Kingdom, designed to look like an enormous plateau and contain many rides, including a runaway mine train roller coaster. However, because the pavilion as a whole was deemed too expensive in light of the construction and 1973 opening of Pirates of the Caribbean, Baxter proposed severing the mine train and building it as a separate attraction. The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad project was put on hold again in 1974 as resources and personnel were being diverted to work on constructing Space Mountain in Tomorrowland, but this delay may have ultimately produced a smoother ride as the use of computers in attraction design was just beginning when the project was resumed. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was one of the first Disney rides to utilize computer-aided design. Four of Disney's parks feature the attraction. It first opened at Disneyland in 1979, and then this larger version debuted at Magic Kingdom in Florida in 1980.
The sounds of Disneyland's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad trains were recorded and used as sound effects for the mine cart chase sequence in Steven Spielberg and George Lucas' 1984 film, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
