This one is dedicated to Alan who thinks I only show Blue skies
It was a grey, warm and a little drizzly in London on Monday. However I will not complain its been almost two and half years since I visited the capital thanks to the virus. It did feel little odd being in such large city again with so many people . We walked a lot to avoid using the Tube though did make one trip underground. Managed to get two a couple of Art shows and had a good dinner before the train journey back to Hull. It was fantastic to be in the heart of a lively city once again
This is a shot looking west along the Thames from waterloo bridge. It shows the tower of Big Ben rising over the Palace of Westminster . Westminster is framed by the Hungerford rail bridge. Big Ben has been hidden by scaffolding for a few years and it was nice to see it uncovered and looking rather fine. Below it you can see that the repairs to the Houses of Parliament are still ongoing
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.
I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO WITHOUT ALSO LEAVING A COMMENT .
On 21 August 2017, Big Ben's chimes were silenced for four years to allow essential restoration work to be carried out on the tower.
The aim of the renovation is to repair and conserve the tower, upgrading facilities as necessary, and ensuring the tower's integrity for future generations. The last significant renovation work to the tower was carried out during 1983–85.
The original cost of the project was estimated to be roughly £29 million, but this was then more than doubled, to reach about £80 million.
In a statement, UK authorities said: “The Elizabeth Tower conservation project is due to complete in the second quarter of 2022.

I took this photograph because of the contrasting colours but also because of the location of the Helter Skelter. It looks like it could be in the middle of the country or on a town moor but it is actually on the other side of the Thames from Canary Wharf in Greenwich.
