Bry and I spent 4 days down at the Best Friends Sanctuary outside Kanab, it was our first extended trip since the birth of our daughter in January. Needless to say we haven't really done much/any nightscape imaging for many months, I decided I coudln't pass up on the good weather we had one of the nights so I dragged myself out of bed around 1am and shot a pano in front of the cottage. Even with some light pollution from Kanab, just below the core area, the Sanctuary has very dark skies. This was also just the second time I've used my ZWO ASI2600mc Pro to do nightscape imaging, still working through the post processing workflow to refine all that since nobody else is really using those cameras for this purpose. I paired the camera with a Voigtlander 50mm APO along with a 3D printed adapter for the E-mount lens since ZWO doesn't make an adapter that allows those lenses to be used on their cameras. I need to dial in a little bit of tilt with the lens, but it's such a great lens it's hardly noticeable anyways.
All in all a great trip with the baby, hopefully Bry can get out and do some shooting during our next trip which will probably be Yellowstone in late June. Time flies with a baby, that's for sure.
35 exposures went into this pano, all 2 minutes at f2.2 and gain 100 on the ASI2600mc Pro with a Voigtlander 50mm APO lens, Fornax Lightrack II tracking mount.

All the photos I present were taken on the beaches of the Italian town “Sant’Andrea Apostolo dello Jonio” in Calabria (southern Italy); I made photos related to "beach photography" (a genre similar to "street photography");
... I photographed young and old people ... with a great desire for the sea and a great desire to dive into the sea to swim; I made some photo-portraits of people I didn't know, I thank them very much for their sympathy and their availability; I tried to capture the essence of minimal photographic stories, collected walking along the beaches ... in search of fleeting moments ...
I used a particular photographic technique for some photographs at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension, with photos characterized by being moved because the exposure times were deliberately lengthened, they are confused -focused-imprecise-undecided ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encloses this photographic genre with a single word is "blur", these images were thus created during the shooting phase, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production

Tutte le foto che presento sono state realizzate sulle spiagge del paese di “Sant’Andrea Apostolo dello Jonio” in Calabria (Catanzaro); ho realizzato foto riconducibili alla “beach photography” (un genere affine alla “street photography”);
ho fotografato persone giovani e meno giovani…con tanta voglia di mare e tanta voglia di immergersi in acqua per fare qualche nuotata; ho realizzato alcuni foto-ritratti di persone che non conoscevo, le ringrazio veramente tanto per la loro simpatia e la loro disponibilità; ho cercato di cogliere al volo l’essenza di storie fotografiche minime, raccolte camminando sulle spiagge... alla ricerca di attimi fugaci s-fuggenti ...
Ho utilizzato per alcune fotografie una tecnica fotografica particolare al momento dello scatto, che oltre a catturare lo spazio circostante, ha "inserito" anche una dimensione temporale, con foto caratterizzate dall’essere mosse poiché volutamente sono stati allungati i tempi di esposizione, sono confuse-sfocate-imprecise-indecise...il termine anglosassone che racchiude con una sola parola questo genere fotografico è "blur", queste immagini sono state così realizzate in fase di scatto, e non come un effetto creato successivamente, a posteriori, in fase di post-produzione.---------------------------------------------------------

As ever I love to see the Turnstones at Southwold, and on a dull, cold January day yesterday that didn't provide good conditions for photography, both the Turnstones and I just got on with it, putting our best foot forward!
I found these best of friends at a farm in Pennsylvania not long ago. The cat and pig were just hanging out in the pig pen.

SLR 512 working on a Sunday was also making it's best impression of 394 from the day's of CN and even SLR's Emons past. This little GP40 was working hard to switch the big cuts of cars (basically LPG loads) so a second unit would have helped both of us out!

Wilbur clambered far out on a point below the main viewing area looking for the best vantage point for sunset at the Grand Canyon.
