I found a very interesting (to me) rabbit hole to dive down over Xmas: YouTube videos of old or "vintage" lenses and their virtues. Ordinarily I wouldn't believe much of what I see on YouTube but the guy I have in mind shows examples of the lenses in question both in his videos and here, so I'm happy to trust him.

As I'm entertaining myself playing with old lenses on a digital camera I was delighted when one of the lenses I already have turned out to be a "poor man's Summicron" and quite desirable...my little Ricoh 50mm. The main video is [www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDRejdiAcSo] and the man himself is Simon's utak (same name here as on YouTube). He has a lot of lovely photos !

As today was sunny I went out with the lens to see how I got on and here is one result: some berries...

The lens is a Ricoh XR Rikenon 50mm f2 (there's another version with some lettering AFTER XR Rikenon, which is less desirable) and I got mine from Skears Photographic for £49.00 plus delivery - in near perfect condition I might add).

Summicron is a Leica designation for particular lenses...

There are several groupings of winterberry holly bushes planted near Wildwood Park's nature center and the birds love to eat the bright red berries. A flock of robins was feasting on the berries, and I was hoping to get a shot of one of them with a berry in its mouth. But the robins were gulping down the berries faster than my reflexes could press the shutter and I never did get the desired shot. Wildwood Park, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

It was a little tricky getting this shot. I had to hold the branch up high enough to make use of the light on the forest floor.

These are actually very tiny berries which I saw hanging from my neighbor's fence.. Each cluster would only measure about 1/3 of an inch.

Another variation. I think I like the square format better.

Have you a wonderful week !

All green was vanished save of pine and yew, That still displayed their melancholy hue; Save the green holly with its berries red...

Blackberry Way..............................................." The Move " ~ Music !

The blackberry is an edible berry in the Rubus genus and the Rosaceae family ! The fruit are botanically termed an aggregate fruit and they are produced on plants that typically have biennial canes and perennial roots ! Blackberries and raspberries are also called caneberries or brambles ! It is widespread, and a well known group of several hundred species throughout the temperate Northern Hemisphere !

* Interesting Fact ~Primary cultivation takes place in the state of Oregon located in the United States of America ! Recorded in 1995 and 2006: 6,180 acres (25.0 km2) to 6,900 acres (28 km2) of blackberries, produced 42.6 and 41.5 million pounds, making Oregon the leading blackberry producer in the world !

The soft fruit is popular for use in desserts, jams, seedless jellies and sometimes wine !

As there is forensic evidence from the Iron Age Haraldskær Woman that she consumed blackberries some 2500 years ago, it is reasonable to conclude that blackberries have been eaten by humans over thousands of years !
