Berkeley Rose Garden, Berkeley, CA

With their final consist build, the A&O departs south through Berkley Run Junction. Here, the CSX Mountain Subdivision ends and the train will continue its journey over the Cowen Subdivision, a CSX line on long-term lease to the A&O.

Brand-new high-rise, now one of the tallest buildings in the city.

From earlier tonight at the Berkeley marina. I'm really starting to like this pier.

“It is clear that the books owned the shop rather than the other way about. Everywhere they had run wild and taken possession of their habitat, breeding and multiplying, and clearly lacking any strong hand to keep them down.”

My son shares my love of books, so when we were walking in downtown Berkeley, the first place we stopped at, after brunch, was the bookstore :))

I also learned that Berkeley has no chain stores at all

Not even a Mickey D's!

He has been there for 4 years and its a fact I did not know :))

I was utterly impressed!!

Only mom&pop stores, all so quaint and beautiful

One reason why he does not eat fast food when home ;)

This bookstore was full of mostly used books

We spent an hour there, and I could have spent an entire day without knowing where the time went.

Bought a book he wanted me to read

The feel of a used book is unlike another

There is so much love within the pages

I much prefer pages to the Nook I own, and that I've probably used to read only one book :/

I like the touch and feel of paper, as my eyes skim the words

It is such beautiful pleasure :))

LOL...

Now that's rambling for ya :))))

Have a beautiful day, my dear friends

Your support means the world to me

Thank you for always making the time for my images

An allée of London Plane trees, just like Paris!

One of the formal entries to the University of California at Berkeley campus. (and part of my normal morning walking trail)

I read recently that many of the formal parks in Paris favor London Plane trees in their allées.

Berkeley Castle is a castle in the town of Berkeley, Gloucestershire, England. The castle's origins date back to the 11th century, being designated by English Heritage as a Grade I-listed building. The castle has remained in the possession of the Berkeley family since they reconstructed it in the 12th century, except for a period of royal ownership under the Tudors. Since 1956, Berkeley Castle has been open to visitors.

I like to pass this fellow when I go to the library in the building. He hangs in the hall and gets a lot of pass-through visitors.

No, I don't study bioscience here--I use the university's wonderful library system to send books that I order to this branch for my pickup.

It works well for me!

On the Berkeley campus. A Christmas walk.

I think this is Koshland Hall, biosciences labs.

Berkeley is a town and civil parish in Gloucestershire, England. It lies in the Vale of Berkeley between the east bank of the River Severn and the M5 motorway within the Stroud administrative district. The town is noted for Berkeley Castle where the imprisoned Edward II was murdered.

I shot this photo on my second or third day on campus as a freshman at Berkeley, and it has remained one of my all-time favorite photos of my undergraduate university. I was discussing a print of this for a client, and that inspired me to re-edit it for the first time in... thirteen years. Yikes. I posted this previously to Flickr, but I like the image and fresh edit enough to repost it.

It's only eight megapixels, but it was tripoded, stopped-down, and I nailed focus, so the level of detail is respectable. I wanted to reshoot this in my later years at Berkeley, but this alignment of the moon at sunset next to the Golden Gate only happens once or twice per year, and it was cloudy at the right window each year.
