Indian Army Mules paraded at Army Mela 2025 in Bengaluru.

"During 1970s and 80s, mules were the only mode of transport in remote areas of Ladakh, Sikkim and Arunachalam Pradesh.

Mules are bred from mares of Austria's Noric breed or France's Breton and Australian male donkeys, resulting in larger mules that can carry loads weighing around 100 kg. GS mules are bred from local mares in Punjab and local male donkeys, resulting in smaller mules ."

Pushing the school bus, with the kids still in it, one giving me a two finger salute out the window.

Bengaluru has a mad energy.

"Pinkathon is more than a Marathon. It is the movement carried forward by a growing community of empowered women across India, who share a belief that a healthy family, a healthy nation and a healthy world begins with empowered women.

The first step in empowerment is taking control of your own health, respecting yourself and understanding and celebrating the value you bring to your family and society. Empowerment is not a gift of society; it is a gift you give yourself."

I wonder if G R Vishwanath or Rahul Dravid began their illustrious careers on this, or a similar, dusty space. Or was my grandfather brought here as a babe in arms as a spectator in 1883? Make no mistake - this was a serious match, with a crowd of spectators who brought their own chairs, a proper scorebook being scrupulously kept and even a water-cooler set up. Something worthwhile left by the Raj?

Bengaluru Tech summit 2022 held at Bangalore Palace Ground

On Sunday Bangalore ran, and it ran like never before. The event was a massive success and saw about 25000 Bangaloreans chipping in to run together. The participants comprised of people from all walks of life - celebrities, students, corporates, housewives, NGO's workers and commoners - some running for a cause, some for plain fun. The weather was perfect and everybody enjoyed the camaraderie. The best sight perhaps was some participants dressed up as peacock, ravana, kathakali dancer and even a condom. As expected, Ethiopians took the cake in competitive category, clocking under 30 minutes.
