St Leonard's Church, Shoreditch

Exterior shot 2 of 2 of previously posted interior photo from an abandoned, early 1900's house. This was taken at a previous visit. Somewhat challenging light (for me at least).

Sous les pins cembro,

L’âme glisse sur la neige,

Silence des cieux.

Beneath Swiss pines,

The soul drifts upon the snow,

Heaven’s quiet gaze.

It must have been cold there in my shadow,

to never have sunlight on your face.

You were content to let me shine, that's your way.

You always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,

while you were the one with all the strength.

A beautiful face without a name for so long.

A beautiful smile to hide the pain.

Did you ever know that you're my hero,

and everything I would like to be?

I can fly higher than an eagle,

'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,

but I've got it all here in my heart.

I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.

I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're my hero?

You're everything I wish I could be.

I could fly higher than an eagle,

'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

Dirk Braeckman (born in 1958 and closely associated with Ghent) felt that painting was not for him. Just as Odysseus was lured to the rocks by the song of the Sirens, an inner voice lured him to the darkroom of photography. To the magician's chamber that Dutch enthusiasts abbreviate to 'doka'. He felt at home there. Classical rules about tonal value, focus and composition were soon thrown overboard. He started painting with lamps and chemicals, in an increasingly larger format.

With him, every print has a life of its own. In the Kunstmuseum, five photos of the sea hang next to each other. All made from the same negative and yet the differences are enormous. "In my armchair, I often think about art and philosophy, but in the darkroom, I act impulsively," says Braeckman. "I want to surprise myself. Time and again. That is possible with this profession."

What drives a person? Dirk Braeckman does not want to know when he works, but he too must have core images from his youth that do not let him go. He tells us hesitantly about his father. “Unlike me, he was very sporty. He liked to dive deep into the sea. As a child, I often went with him. I would sit on the shore for hours waiting. Or worse, on a boat far out at sea. He didn’t notice it, but I never knew when he would surface again.”

Grasses, sagebrush, and young conifers are among the plants growing beneath this stand of aspens.

A typical morning view from the balcony of our timeshare in St. Maarten. I just bought plane tickets for March, so I'm ready to go. lol

On the other hand, the 1st of March is great time to go. You've typically had enough of winter and when you get back- it's almost over.

a priest sits alone in the penumbra of basilica di san crisogono, his gaze caught between silence and something unseen above. light slips across his robe like a passing thought, revealing the wear of years and the weight of belief. within these centuries-old walls, shadows speak gently, and faith feels carved into stone.

No one tried to save this, the sun's burnt out.

Darkness is beginning, the sun's burnt out.

No more beautiful, no more life.

It was such a cold day! This photo was taken towards the end of our mini shoot, and me and Ciera were turning blue from the cold. This was probably one of the last good shots we got, the rest are of us running around trying to keep warm!

Lara Jade's actions (once again) and a few of my own techniques.

A small series of photos from recent trips out to photograph the local butterflies.

I have become obsessed with trying to find and photograph these delicate little creatures. I love finding them hidden amongst the foliage and how so many photographs can be taken so close to home in such a small area.

Captured in: North Topsail Beach, NC.

What lies beneath the SeaView Fishing Pier is a reinforced network of wooden planks and supports used to hold off its ever charging adversary -- the Atlantic Ocean.

The SeaView fishing pier (unseen topside), is one of the longest piers in North Carolina. It stands an impressive 1,000 feet long, and was constructed as a sturdier replacement for Salty's Pier which was destroyed in 1996 by Hurricane Fran.

The pier offers visitors the opportunity to fish for king mackerel, flounder, blues, and Spanish mackerel in the surrounding waters, and is a landmark along North Topsail Beach.

Born in the silence of the south Baffin tundra,

the creek threads its way for hundreds of kilometers,

seeking the wide embrace of Frobisher Bay.

Now winter holds it fast in a frozen grip,

its voice muted beneath ice and snow—

until June returns,

and the thaw releases its song once more.

Something quite different for me - Near the mouth of the harbor I watched this Common Loon diving for a meal. I was able to capture him underwater when he took a dive into a shallow wave.

Becky was such a trooper standing in the cold water. Thankfully her toes didn't fall off haha. I always appreciate a model who is up for slightly uncomfortable situations. I only ask if I think it'll be worth it. I think it was in this case :)

This is the last photo I'll be sharing from this shoot on flickr. I will however, be sharing a blog post with the rest of the photographs over on my blog over the next month or so. The best place to see when that's up is firstly, by following my blog, but secondly, over on my Facebook Page. Make sure you're following me over there too. All the links to my social media are down below as always! Hope you're all well. I've just come back from a lovely weekend away and look forward to sharing new work over the next week :)
