Gannets are distinctively shaped with a long neck and long pointed beak, long pointed tail, and long pointed wings. At sea they flap and then glide low over the water, often travelling in small groups. They feed by flying high and circling before plunging into the sea. It breeds in significant numbers at only a few localities and so is an Amber List species

My first visit to the RSPB reserve at Bempton. Unusual to photograph birds from above this was the first time I have photographed gannets

Gannets and Guillemots abound on Bempton Cliffs, an RSPB nature reserve between Bridlington and Filey in East Yorkshire

A wonderful place if your a twitcher! This RSPB site is one of the only mainland sites that you can get realy close to nesting seabirds including Razorbills, Gannets and the amazing Puffin!
