Margerethenkapelle on top of the Wiehengebirge. One of my special places since I visited a concert on a Winter evening here many years ago. October waved goodby with sunshine and warm tempereratures and we used the perfect weather for an extended hiking tour on the Wittedindsweg, a crest trail on the Wiehengebirge from Porta Westfalica in the East to the Osnabrück area in the West. Before the sun went down we visited the most interesting spots of the Eastern part of the trail.

Thank you very much for your comments and faves, regretfully, I am finding it increasingly difficult to reply to your comments, because of my very limited time on the internet, due to constant power interruptions in South Africa. I do read and appreciate every one of them! Thanks again!!
”Shakkin’ Briggie” (St Devenick’s Bridge) over the River Dee from Ardoe to Cults, Aberdeen - opened in 1837. Funded by Rev Dr George Morison to give 700 parishioners on the north bank access to his church on the south bank (they were crossing the river by boat). You would need more than a prayer to cross on it now!

The sun is hiding were I’m standing but at the top of the hill it's brilliant beyond belief. I want to walk to the top of this hill and let this stunning sunshine rain down on me and be baptized in its brilliance.

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.” - Buddha
Five years ago if someone would have told me that I'd be shooting rebuilt CP SD9043AC's in maroon and grey paint in St Paul, I'd have thought they were nuts. Or high.
But here we are, doing just that on a beautiful Fall day. And these engines look GREAT! I gotta give them credit, CP really nailed it with these two Heritage units. They're on their first revenue run with train 197. Still can't believe what I saw today.

Seeing artist Barbara Kruger's installation at MoMA yesterday reminded me that I had seen her work installed at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington DC in 2016.
From the museum's website: "Large areas of the installation are devoted to open-ended questions (“WHO IS BEYOND THE LAW? WHO IS FREE TO CHOOSE? WHO SPEAKS? WHO IS SILENT?”), while the section occupying the bookstore explores themes of desire and consumption. At once addressing the individual, the museum, and, symbolically, the country, Kruger’s penetrating examination of the public sphere transforms one of the Hirshhorn’s key public spaces."
The Aztec belief was that brave warriors that died in battle and women who died in childbirth ( wow ! ) would ascend to the Sun and War God's palace as a hummingbird. He is always represented with a blue-green hummingbird helmet.
And it can't hurt to have a rainbow path leading right to the afterlife-----
After I depart this earthly plain, look for me in your local hummingbird !!!
Luzzus are essentially traditional Maltese fishing boats. They are typically painted in traditional bright colours including blue,
yellow, red and green. You can normally spot a rather large number of luzzus in Malta’s seaside villages.
There is quite a lot of superstition surrounding the luzzu, the most prominent of them all being the painted or engraved pair of eyes on the front of the boat. These eyes are believed to be a modern survival of an old Phoenician tradition, and are normally referred to as the Eye of Orisis, or the Eye of Horus – the Phoenicians’ god of protection from evil. They are a symbol of protection and good health, and are believed to protect the fishermen from any harm while they are out at sea.
In addition to this, luzzus are normally inherited from a person’s father and grandfather. However, although the exact colours of each luzzu vary from one another, the colours of each luzzu are normally kept exactly the same due to superstitious belief. Therefore, when the old paint is completely stripped off the boat every five years, in order for the fisherman to closely inspect his boat for anything that needs to be replaced, the boat is then re-painted in exactly the same colours that the person’s father and grandfather had used.
Demons, evil and the Devil himself.
Believing in the devil is often seen as an inherent component of theistic belief in God. From a theological standpoint, the concept of the devil serves a number of crucial purposes.
Acknowledging the existence of the devil helps to explain the presence of evil and suffering in the world.
If God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and benevolent, why does evil persist? The belief in the devil provides an answer by positing that evil is the result of a fallen angel who opposes God's will and actively seeks to corrupt humanity.
This understanding allows believers to reconcile the coexistence of an all-loving God and the presence of evil in the world.
Every good story needs a villain. Without the Devil the "God story" doesn't work.

There are so many questions one may have on any given day. This is a new day in a new year, but although the numbers have changed, it is just another day.

A tiny tooth, a sparkly gleam,
A secret hope, a whispered dream.
A child's belief, pure and true,
In magic's touch, a fairy's hue.
The tooth fairy, a gentle soul,
Her magic shines, making hearts whole.
She whispers softly, a lullaby,
As children sleep beneath the sky.
A sprinkle of dust, a fairy's kiss,
A treasure left, a wish to this.
A child's belief, forever bright,
Guiding them through the darkest night.
So let your heart believe in her,
The tooth fairy, a guiding star.
For as long as you believe in her,
She'll always believe in you, my dear.
