..You can only spend it .. so don't rush through .. take your time and enjoy the moment ..life is not a race (even though Viru Sahasrabuddhe aka Virus (from the movie 3 idiots ) may not agree with this ) ;-)

“Reflection is a flower of the mind, giving out wholesome fragrance."
~Erasmus
"A circle is the reflection of eternity. It has no beginning and it has no end."
~Keenan
“Follow effective action with quiet reflection.” ~Drucker
"Reflection" has not always come easy to me...I am a 'get~er~done' kinda' gal! I've been great at "action" and not so great at "reflection." Over the years, I've come to learn more, and be better at slowing down, stopping even, and sitting with my thoughts, or with what I'm reading or journaling.
More recently, photography has been a wonderful teacher, to me on reflection. This artform has forced me to slow my pace, take a breath (literally, it helps with camera~shake), take my time, be patient and think about what it is I want to, or am trying to capture!
I am so grateful for these life lessons, that somehow reach me and teach my through my lens!
Have a wonderful, reflecting weekend EVERYONE! ❧
I went to Maine in January to be with my sister while she went through a total knee replacement and to take care of her elderly cat while she was in therapy. The day of my sisters surgery, I received a message saying that my best friend was admitted to the hospital two days prior to my arrival with acute pancreatitis. The message said she was in ICU and her health was declining. In shock...I sat....how could this be? And I remembered a few days back that I felt something was not right with her but I put it off...telling myself I would talk to her about it when I got to Maine...I never had the chance. She was in the same hospital as my sister...I could not go to see her, as only family members were allowed to see her. I prayed she would return...... Somewhere in another reality she rested...contemplated... I left Maine without seeing or being able to speak to her...to hold her hand...to give her words of hope, encouragement...I prayed my heart and soul could reach her...wherever she was residing during this time.
To this day, she is still in ICU, though she has finally awakened. She is far from out of the woods...and I continue to pray, sending Love and Light...that she will return to us...that her body heal and that she can be whole again or at least whole enough that she feels life is worth living again.

I will take a while and sit in the shade of this big old tree,
listen to what the leaves whisper to each other
while the wind gently strokes them.
See how the branches sway while dancing with the breeze.
Smell the scent of green grass, feel it crisp and cool under my feet.
On my back one with the earth, connecting with the deep blue sky.
At first it looks so distant and far so unreachable high,
zooming in to the candy floss clouds bringing it closer, touchable near.
Playing with the wind entertaining me
by making pictures stimulating my imagination,
prompting my fantasy in acting out scenes
on a wide open stage with a heavenly blue decor.
When I draw the curtain by closing my eyes,
I listen, hear the bugs applauding.
The crickets calling the an-cor.
In the silence so many sounds and no noise.
The harmony of nature, all tuned in to each other.
Who is the director? No one out of tune.....
We are so among noise that we have learned to filter out so much
that we have forgotten to tune in to the little sounds.
They are there but we do not hear....
I miss my home. My Africa. The farm where my roots are.
Where nature talks my language, where everything is intense.
Where money has a purpose to pay for some things,
but has no value to pay for so many things with the greatest value.
...Like seeing a chameleon not in a hurry to catch the bus,
changing clothes to any environment or occasion - not bought at a boutique.
The frog singing in a deep alto had no singing lessons.
The springbuck leaping through the sky had no dancing lessons.
The cow grazing peacefully chewing away, do not complain about the menu.
The birds are flying free against a clear clean blue sky,
following each other gliding in perfect sequence, being at peace with it.
Butterflies a beautiful color show dancing and flirting from flower to flower.
If perfection does exist, then in nature it does.
Even what seems to be imperfection, is the fine details that makes it perfect
that makes it true and real.
So friends keep on looking, see listen and hear seek and find. . .

It’s been a while since I picked up my camera to take photos just for fun. I’ve always loved having a dedicated camera (not my iPhone, although the photo quality is amazing!) and just walking around, looking for things that are interesting to me. In a way, it helps me further appreciate my surroundings and reframe the way I look at things. It honestly doesn’t take much to see things differently. Just a simple pause, truly looking around with more purpose, and being in the present with mental clarity helps slow down thoughts that make you anxious.
I think what I’m trying to say is that photography helps me be in the moment and look at the world differently. We’re constantly time-starved and rushing from one thing to another, day after day, and it’s easy to sometimes forget to slow down, take a moment for yourself, and take in everything around us. It reminds me that when Denise and I got married over 12 years ago, one of the best pieces of advice we received was to remember to just stop and take a moment for ourselves to remember that day. Everything in life moves incredibly fast, so remember to slow down, take a deep breath, and appreciate everything in our lives. So next time when you’re out running an errand or something routine based, stop, look around and take a few photos. Here are a few I took on my way home after work with my Sony ZV-1. I processed them through Adobe’s Lightroom. Hope you dig these snaps!

We set out to Subic at 4 AM from Manila. Went to the zoo and then went this beach to ride on some boats. As we were about to leave the beach and head to our resort, the tires of our van blew out. We ended up stranded here for hours until our tires got replaced. Delays. I guess it’s just a part of travel. It teaches you patience and to just be in the moment. I got to witness this beautiful sunset. 🌅 #thewayeyesee #jaymieperalta #travel #travelphotography #wanderlust #adventure #explore #patience #peace #beinthemoment #sunset #beachsunset #subic #philippines #PH #samsunggalaxys3
