hear-hear:

I wrote a little poem about it:

My inspiration comes from many places.

It's often a song or a melody,

just a single word or a poetry.

It can be a mood or a feeling,

a painting or a memory.

It always comes in a flash,

a shooting star that I must catch .

That's why I keep a pen nearby,

so the stick figures quickly apply.

****

This one sketch served as the preparation for "The nosy neighbour" picture. I have tons of these. I can draw better than this actually, but I make them very quickly, in the instant, so I don't lose the feeling of the idea that just popped in my head. So I stay with simple stick figures.

I use it to compose my picture before I shoot, so I know what I will need and where and how I will place things. Sometimes I stick to it, but sometimes the final composition is totally different from the sketch.

Oddly enough, I do this all in english, even though its not my first language, it comes naturally like this.

iPhone snapshot of the behind-the-scenes of the previous photo.

The violin, sometimes known as a fiddle, is a wooden chordophone in the violin family. Most violins have a hollow wooden body. It is the smallest and thus highest-pitched instrument in the family in regular use.

In 2011 I had the opportunity to be involved in a unique marketing campaign for David Fincher's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." I spent a few days on the set in Sweden and Los Angeles, taking photos of the final days of filming for our production blog Mouth Taped Shut. To help give the blog a more unique and candid feel, and to distinguish from the photos from the official unit photography, I shot primarily with my iPhone, particularly with Hipstamatic.

UNSPECIFIED - MAY 01: RECORDING STUDIO Photo of Richard TANDY and Bev BEVAN and Jeff LYNNE and ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA, L-R: Richard Tandy, ?, Jeff Lynne, Bev Bevan in a recording studio in Munich, Germany (Photo by Fin Costello/Redferns)

Behind the scenes shot for this photo for Macro Mondays "Matchstick".

Sometimes my setups are simultaneously simple and complicated; the "complicated" comes from having to work in weird places because I don't have a dedicated and versatile workspace. This is the only window in our apartment that both catches afternoon sunlight and permits me to get anywhere near it with a camera and tripod.

DJI Mini 2: for sure not the image quality I am used to from my Canon camera's, but nice to have another perspective at hand as well!

Canon vs Nikon Opposites Mirror Reflection

Two Alienbees B800's with 40 degree grids up high facing down. One is setup as a back light, you can see it lighting up the top edge of the mirror. Then the main light is camera left, up high again facing down. You can see a behind the scenes pic below to see the setup better. Photo taken with a 5D Mark II and radiopoppers to trigger the Alienbees. It actually took a while to setup this shot cause everywhere we stuck the lights looked lame until we eventually stuck the light really high and it gave the best result.

For this photoshoot, I used an "onion skinning" technique where I took one photo with the black shirt and the canon camera, then using software on the computer, overlayed the photo over a live view image of the camera so you can realign your body in the exact same position as the previous shot. Then you take the next photo (the one in white). Then the 2 images are photoshopped together. The software I used is from www.breezesys.com/DSLRRemotePro.

The camera in the white shirt is the Nikon D7000 with the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G AF-S VR. The camera I'm holding with the black shirt is the Canon 7D with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II . The camera taking the photo is the 5D Mark II with the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0L IS lens.
