After almost a week of vicious fighting through the icy ruins, the clanker command decided to pull out its remaining forces and surrender the port.

As soon as the droid forces retreated into their base in the cave systems to the north we all finally had some time to rest up and regroup. Everyone except for the ARF elements that is.

While the rest of the 253rd legion got to resupply and rest within the city ruins, my recon group was sent back out into the frigid cold to look for any pockets of remaining droids.

Bolt and I got sent to the eastern outskirts of the city. This sector of the city had been evacuated by the droids first and hadn't seen activity in two days. We didn't expect to find much.

[CL-8675]Jockey: See anything from up there?

[CT-2255]Bolt: Nothin but ice. Just a giant flat plain of ice. Ice over there. Ice over here. Ice on the ground. Ice on my armour. Ice...

Jockey: Ok. Shut up. I get it, there's lots of ice. Any activity on that ice?

Bolt: Looks like a storm is picking up several clicks to the east. That's it.

Jockey: Ill inform command about that.

Jockey on comm: Come in command this is CL-8675 reporting from recon patrol 14. Over.

Command: We read you CL-8675. What's your patrol's status?

Jockey: We've completed our sweep of the sector. Not detecting any functional droids nor any forms of life in the vicinity. Sector secure. However, we are picking up a storm about 11 clicks east-northeast of our position. Over.

Command: Well take a look at that. Your patrol is free to return to base. Over.

Jockey: Alright Bolt, let's get out of here.

Bolt: Don't have to tell me twice. The damn quartermaster division couldn't even equip us with the right gear. The ice crystals are starting to build up on my visor.

Jockey: Bolt, I swear if you say ice one more time I'm going to ship you back to Kamino on janitorial duties.

Bolt: Loud and clear lieutenant. Loud and clear.

...the search to find Rudolph and...

save Christmas....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was just too fun to pass up...Batman vacationing at the Alpine Lodge and finding out that....
Rudolph's Nose had Gone Dark...and the reindeer has disappeared just days before he is needed!
John, thanks, I did think of that when I ordered this Reindeer from The BrickDude. The nose is black and not red....
thus....
another facet of the story can ensue!!!!
So we finally had some snow here in Edinburgh. It is really just a small amount but enough to transform the so familiar landscape into something special. As always, it is unlikely to last so I took the dogs to the Pentlands this morning to at least capture some of the white.
Nanjing Road (en chino, 南京路; pinyin, Nánjīng Lù) es la principal calle de tiendas de Shanghái, China, y una de las calles de tiendas más transitadas del mundo.1 En la actualidad, Nanjing Road se compone de dos secciones: Nanjing Road East y Nanjing Road West. En algunos contextos, "Nanjing Road" se refiere solo a lo que fue Nanjing Road hasta el 1945, en la actualidad Nanjing Road East, ampliamente peatonal. Antes de 1949, el nombre en inglés de la calle era "Nanking Road", usando la romanización estándar de aquella época.
Nanjing Road es el distrito de compras más largo del mundo, con una longitud de unos 6 km, y atrae más de 1 millón de visitantes diariamente.
East Nanjing Road es una zona dedicada a los comercios. En su extremo este está la sección central del Bund, donde se sitúa el Peace Hotel. Inmediatamente al oeste del Bund estaba tradicionalmente la zona de restaurantes y cafeterías, aunque en años recientes se han convertido en menos importantes porque la demografía de los visitantes de Nanjing Road ha cambiado de residentes locales ricos a visitantes de todo el país. Cerca está el Mercado Central, un mercado al aire libre de un siglo de antigüedad especializado actualmente en componentes electrónicos y medios digitales. Más hacia el oeste está el centro comercial peatonal de Nanjing Road. Aquí se sitúan la mayoría de los grandes almacenes más antiguos y grandes de Shanghái, así como muchos comercios domésticos y algunos restaurantes tradicionales con larga historia.
Nanjing Road (Chinese: 南京路; pinyin: Nánjīng Lù; Shanghainese: Noecin Lu) is a road in Shanghai, the eastern part of which is the main shopping district of Shanghai. It is one of the world's busiest shopping streets, along with Fifth Avenue, Oxford Street, Orchard Road, Takeshita Street and the Champs-Élysées. The street is named after Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province and the former capital of the Republic of China. Today's Nanjing Road comprises two sections, Nanjing Road East and Nanjing Road West.
Nanjing Road is located in the city center, running in a west–east direction. Its eastern section is in Huangpu District and extends from The Bund west to People's Square. The western section begins at People's Square and continues westward towards Jing'an District.
East Nanjing Road is a dedicated commercial zone. At its eastern end is the central section of the Bund, featuring the Peace Hotel. Immediately west of the Bund precinct was traditionally the hub of European-style restaurants and cafes, although in recent years these have become less of a feature as the demographics of visitors to Nanjing Road have shifted from affluent local residents to visitors from around the country. Close by is the Central Market, a century-old outdoor market today specialising in electronic components and digital media. Further west is the Nanjing Road pedestrian mall. Located here are most of Shanghai's oldest and largest department stores, as well as a variety of domestic retail outlets, and some traditional eateries with a long history. From the perspective of the historical development of Nanjing East Road, the start and redevelopment of this road were driven by the pursuit of commerce and image. The commercialization of Nanjing East Road has both a promotion and a restrictive effect.
Not only did the day begin on a high note but it ended rather nicely just prior to departing. The Brown Pelicans have returned and a couple seem to be setting up shop on the bayou. They usually outpace me in the canoe and I rarely get close enough to them before they depart into the distance but there were several around and a couple of them were fairly cooperative. This particular character was doing a bit of showing off as he searched for his next meal on Armand Bayou. That is Bay Area Park in the background in this capture.
"the well of lost plots. to understand the well you have to have an idea of the layout of the great library. the library is where all published fiction is stored so it can be read by the readers in the outland; there are twenty-six floors, one for each letter of the alphabet. the library is constructed in the layout of a cross with the four corridors radiating from the central point. on all the walls, end after end, shelf after shelf, are books. hundreds, thousands, millions of books. hardbacks, paperbacks, leatherbound, everything. but the similarity of these books to the copies we read back home is no more than the similarity a photograph has to its subject; these books are alive.
"beneath the great libary are twenty-six floors of dingy yet industrious subbasements known as the well of lost plots. this is where books are constructed, honed and polished in readiness for a place in the library above - if they make it that far. the failure rate is high. unpublished books outnumber published by an estimated eight to one."
Those who improve with age embrace the power of personal growth and personal achievement and begin to replace youth with wisdom, innocence with understanding, and lack of purpose with self-actualisation ~ Bo Bennett
Opening the door of my mom childhood's home, memories begin to run wild and free towards me, fragment of my early summers, slowly spent capturing insects and drinking landscapes with sight.
After 15 years without, our home lets the daylight stream in like a long awaited lover's pleasure. The barrage falls, tamed. The wall smiles again, unbelieving. Each grain of dust dances madly in the limelight. Things come alive, again.
For a while my dad dims the stream with his own body. He's not romantic, but I'm sure his heart is aching like mine. This sense of abandonment is an exceptional wave of sedimented years crashing all at once, and us two just witness of the cruelty of time.
I browse those familiar 45 square meters like an archeologist. The dice of a funny calendar are frozen into 1986, dishes cry. I can see in the cupboard what films then fed my camera. Even the spiders' party has ended, every bed looks dead. Furnitures are still beautiful, soaked of tiredness and poverty. Old prints I'll bring away with us are smiling prisoners in a drawer.
How many times I played guitar here, where my grandparents one early spring night conceived my mother? How many times I still relive the summer night when I, fourteen, tasted for the first time the lips of a girl, Angela, first love, eighteen next-door neighbour, hair as blond as hay? I can clearly remember her starlit pupils, her softness; and the harsh contrast (the morning after) conveyed by the rage of my grandmother, who peeked at my sin from behind the leaves of the balcony door...
In the attic, under a decade of dust, a handmade high chair toy. The ghost of my grandfather, died suicide in his carpentry when her daughter was neither a teen, joyfully smiling at me finding something his hands did for her 50 years before.
With no slightest hesitation, the toy came down with me. Now, revarnished as new, it makes my daughter's dolls happy.
