This Beetroot Salad is so good, I decided to order it again.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY in Canada! Sunday, 9 May 2021: our temperature is PLUS 2C (windchill MINUS 2C) at 1:00 pm. Sunrise is at 5:55 am, and sunset is at 9:10 pm. We have rain and SNOW today! Thankfully, the rain is stopping the snow from settling on the ground.

The Lizard in Cornwall is the most Southerly tip of England. Here you can find sea kale growing, seals swimming, choughs nesting on the cliffs or you can simply gaze out to sea, watching the giant container ships drift by on the horizon. Before you head for home be sure to visit the home made jam and chutney stall next to the car park - pickled beetroot was the special of the day when we visited.

As I wait for the beetroot anthotype to expose and for my order of precision scales to arrive, here are some anthotype preparation photos.
Substrate: Watercolour paper 180gsm
Light sensitive anthotype dye: Grated beeroot juice
Application: dabbing with grated beetroot ball in a synthetic cloth
Opaque layer: clockwise from top left - beetroot leaf, fishbone fern frond, conifer, eukalyptus leaves.
Exposure time: tbd
Does anyone have experience with beetroot juice? It has been a day so far and the exposed areas haven't faded yet, unlike turmeric and paprika which fades within hours. I'm guessing that it may be a few weeks.
250 g. ground almonds
125 g. sugar
60 m"l water
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Boil sugar and water till 110 C.
Add lemon juice and mix.
Add ground almonds and mix.
