Trees and flowers are so important. The idea of blooming is the idea of becoming something different.

"Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming. When nothing is certain, anything is possible."

A star magnolia, that is :)

I posted this one as a bud just over a week ago, and here it's bursting and ready to open totally. Once they bloom, they seem to turn brown within a day and are gone. Luckily, this bush is in my neighbour's yard, so I didn't have to go far to shoot it.

HBW😊😊😍

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

I found this stunning 1946 Buick Model 41 Special outside of Waukon, Washington during a pretty spectacular sunset. I couldn't have asked for a better location or timing!

I wasn't sure about this shot, too much blur on the hand. However, she does have the nicest smile and I liked the taxi in the background

Yesterday's weather was brutal. Twenty-five mile an hour winds with the wind chill .... too darn cold! I've been feeling down without my camera in hand so I dragged Kipp out into the weather to see the sparrows. They seemed happy to sit in the sun yet many were in their cozy Lobster Traps.

This one was so happy to show off his best side:) I may spend the rest of the year photographing these darlings...

A heavyset finch of northern coniferous forests, the Evening Grosbeak adds a splash of color to winter bird feeders every few years, when large flocks depart their northern breeding grounds en masse to seek food to the south. The yellow-bodied, dusky-headed male has an imposing air thanks to his massive bill and fierce eyebrow stripe. The female is more subtly marked, with golden highlights on her soft gray plumage. This declining species is becoming uncommon, particularly in the eastern United States.

Playing in the paint once again. This one started out as a bottom bottle pour but I really didn't like it. I proceeded to work with the paint, blowing it around with a straw. I started to see wings and then a figure....I thought...hmmm...I can work with that!

A couple of uploads from an afternoon in west Cumbria from 2015. Just before the final shot of the day in the form of the tea time departure from Barrow there was time to pull in the southbound flask working. I had no idea it was going to produce a 57/0 as by this time they were becoming thin on the ground. Also unusual to be working alone.

Part 3 of 3 of my Ancient Egypt series.

The title is known to be given during the Old Kingdom of Egypt, and was at that point very powerful and prestigious. The mummies of the priestesses testify that they were decorated with a religious tattoo, covering the stomach around the area of the uterus. After the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, the title was often irregularly awarded the women of the royal family, typically princesses.

The rise, fall & extinction of the priestesses of Hathor are seen in ancient Egyptian culture. The women who wanted to become socially powerful usually took refuge in religion & took the charge of priesthood.

Ancient Egyptian society took women's empowerment much more loosely than ancient Greece & ancient Rome. There women were given the right to their own property. However, after becoming a priestess, a woman is seen not only as an important figure in ancient Egyptian society, but also a living symbol of divinity.

The priestesses of Hathor were called hm ntr hthr & they were one of the most respected people in Egypt. But After the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, the title was often irregularly awarded only to the women of the royal family, typically princesses. This includes the daughter of Ramesses II. At one time their names were completely erased from history.

Egyptologysts have shown that in early days only women of aristocratic lineage could be appointed to the priesthood of Hathor. They were called Badak-Purohit or God's Consort (Hmt nTr). They performed dances and songs during the sacred rites. Because of their menstruation and ability to give child-birth, they were considered unholy, which is why they could not perform sacred duties like dressing up the sacred image of deity.

“For me, becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. The journey doesn’t end.”

Sleek, fast-flying large falcon. Always look for a grayish back in adults, long wings that almost reach the tail tip, and powerful but slender build. Dark mark below each eye varies in shape and size. Juveniles are more heavily patterned below than adults, and can be quite brownish above. Patterning varies considerably across a wide global range, with back color ranging from pale gray in Central Asian “Red-capped” to slaty-blue across much of northern Eurasia North America, to almost black in Asian “Shaheen.” Chases prey down at high speeds with continuous powerful wingbeats. Becoming increasingly common in parts of range, especially in cities, where they can nest on tall buildings and feed on pigeons. Adaptable, and can be seen in a wide range of habitats; often encountered in areas with steep cliffs, as well as around coastal mudflats and open areas with shorebirds. (eBird)

----------------

This young peregrine was living up to his billing by harassing the shorebirds along the Lake Ontario shoreline. A second bird showed up and there was a brief aerial battle. It was possibly this bird's sibling since the battle looked more like play and less like dominance. It's the first time I've ever caught a peregrine in flight and I'm pretty happy with the results.
