I love the doors, it is a photographic subject that I really like, because they give a lot of play and come in all shapes and colors.
But this was different because I had not seen anything like it. It is actually half door, the other half, given the low light was completely dark. I found in a farmhouse inhabited near Ogassa while I was walking looking for autumnal forest.
I suppose that must be the gates from one corral, but because of the total darkness of the interior, I did not dare to make more inquiries, lest came the farmer with a shotgun and with little desire to parley with a stranger who entered in his possessions .
Normally, they are very good people and eager to talk but now, no longer trust anyone. Me neither. Not going to be that they let go of the dogs.
He had always believed that photography was a safe and risk-free activity, but just in case, I left as fast as I could.
No more to say, a door is a door, just caught my attention textures and contrasts.

Me encantan las puertas, es un tema fotográfico que me gusta mucho, pues dan mucho juego y las hay de todas las formas y colores.
Pero esta come aparte, ya que no había visto nada parecido. En realidad es media puerta, la otra mitad, dada la poca luz, estaba completamente en penumbra. La encontré en una masía habitada cerca de Ogassa mientras paseaba buscando bosques otoñales.
Supongo que deben ser las puertas de un corral, pero debido a la oscuridad total del interior, no me atreví a hacer mas averiguaciones, no fuera que saliera el payés con la escopeta y con pocas ganas de parlamentar con un desconocido que entraba en su territorio. Normalmente, son muy buena gente y con ganas de charlar pero actualmente, ya no se fían de nadie. Y yo menos. No vaya a ser que me suelten los perros.
Siempre había creído que la fotografía era una actividad segura y sin riesgos, pero por si acaso me fui lo más rápido que pude.
No hay más que contar, una puerta es una puerta, solo me llamaron la atención sus texturas y contrastes.

Because of engineering works between Zwolle and Emmen, this line is closed in the first week of June. The container train between Rotterdam and Coevorden which runs twice a week, is diverted via Bad Bentheim and runs via the diesel line of Bentheimer Eisenbahn. On Tuesday 2 June BE's V200 took the train from Coevorden to Bentheim. 'Nez Cassé' 1835 would run the train from Bentheim to Kijfhoek yard. Rumors say that BE wants to sell her V200 loco soon....

And she was a little annoyed because one of these strange tiny persons kept stomping around on her (empty!) tummy, not to mention the red cord that tied her to the wooden stretcher they had used to carry her to that beach. "Big Sands" it was called, she had picked up from the conversation the guy in yellow had barked into his walkie-talkie. What was she doing here, anyway? When Lily had decided to follow her great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather Lemuel's footsteps and set off to explore the universe she had expected to find her own adventures and not relive his. This wasn't even Lilliput but a strange Central Peuroean shore with a sea that didn't even have a tide. Something with Blatic. Or was it Batlic Sea? She couldn't remember. It was hot, she was hungry, and her shades were out of reach. She had to get out of there. ASAP. So she turned her head to one of the guys who all looked like construction workers and said: "I come in peace. Take me to your leader!"

This fun theme allowed me to not only use one of my Playmobil astronaut figurines (it's perfectly normal to have Playmobil figurines as a grown-up, isn't it?) I stumbled upon at a toy store while looking for something for an MM theme (I can't remember which) but also to bring back John, Jim, and James (please see my album if you like). Since John, Jim, and James are adventures of sorts, too, something tells me that this story will have a happy ending. After J, J, and J won the sand sculpture competition, of course ;)
The photography part was very straightforward and fast this time. The fiddly part was the setup, especially tying Lily to the wooden cutting board. At first, I tried to use pins to fixate the thread but the wood was too hard (or the pins too long and soft ̵– or both). So I fetched the thumbtacks, and that worked. But the tiny Preiser figures kept falling as it was difficult to place them on the cutting board because modeling clay didn't stick to the wood very well.
Sizewise the frame is almost maxed out. A regular Playmobil figure is exactly 7,5 cm/2.95 inches tall, and I arranged the scene so that not the entire Playmobil figure is visible in the frame. It's a single photo, processed in DXO, LR, PS (my signature), and Analog Efex (the frame).

a very peculiar wader / shorebird, not only because of its double name but more so because of its behavior.

"The red phalarope or grey phalarope (Phalaropus fulicarius) is a small wader. This phalarope breeds in the Arctic regions of North America and Eurasia. It is migratory, and, unusually for a wader, migrates mainly on oceanic routes, wintering at sea on tropical oceans.
The typical avian sex roles are reversed in the three phalarope species. Females are larger and more brightly coloured than males. The females pursue males, compete for nesting territory, and will aggressively defend their nests and chosen mates. Once the females lay their olive-brown eggs, they begin their southward migration, leaving the males to incubate the eggs and care for the young. Three to six eggs are laid in a ground nest near water. Incubation lasts 18 or 19 days. The young mainly feed themselves and are able to fly within 18 days of birth.
The red phalarope is about 21 cm (8.3 in) in length, with lobed toes and a straight bill, somewhat thicker than that of red-necked phalarope. The breeding female is predominantly dark brown and black above, with red underparts and white cheek patches. The bill is yellow, tipped black. The breeding male is a duller version of the female. Young birds are light grey and brown above, with buff underparts and a dark patch through the eye. In winter, the plumage is essentially grey above and white below, but the black eyepatch is always present. The bill is black in winter.
When feeding, a red phalarope will often swim in a small, rapid circle, forming a small whirlpool. This behaviour is thought to aid feeding by raising food from the bottom of shallow water. The bird will reach into the outskirts of the vortex with its bill, plucking small insects or crustaceans caught up therein. They sometimes fly up to catch insects in flight. On the open ocean, they are found in areas where converging ocean currents produce upwellings and are often found near groups of whales. Outside of the nesting season they often travel in flocks."

Somehow the gray sky has the power to turn off the light inside you and vanish every hope for sun. It's like the "stand still" feeling. You no longer want to watch the sky but still you peak if a tiny ray could cut out and light up with gold tones. Hopeless is the waiting, but strong is the feeling not the give up.
Only a storm has the power of the huge changing.
That's why I love standing in the storm because I know that's just the last goodbye of the gray sky.
