A MAV M62 still with its original Koloma engine smokes it up as it accelerates out of Borgond, Hungary with the semaphore giving a high clear. This was such a fantastic place during the diversion and I was incredibly dumb not to come back again. Hindsight is 20/20 or other such lies you can tell yourself...

Like a majestic huge steamship from the fog of an ancient sea the immensity of Union Pacific 4014 comes into view from the heavy ground fog at Sherman Hill revealing all of his detail, huffing and chuffing breathing like a mythical beast of another time. .

The Elder Beast escaped from a cosmic sea, an entity of great strength. Its maw a mass of tendrils like that of an octopus. Remnants of its imprisonment remain.
Build for round one of Bio-Cup 2020.

They thought they had beaten him badly and wounded him...
but in reality, they had only awakened the beast.
This lovely "beast" appeared over a thunderstorm in Rhodes isl., Greece, on Nov. 13, 2023. More than 30 events were observed during the evening of Nov. 13, 2023 over #thunderstorms at E-SE. Aegean Sea and W. Turkey.
TLEs (like red sprites) are upper atmospheric electrical discharges and they appear, under specific circumstances, above thunderstorms (e.g. red sprites appear at altitudes of 40-90 km).
I've used a #Sigma 85 mm lens at f/1.4, for 1/25'' with 40 k iso.

I don't usually process so harshly but there was something so strange and beast like about this outcrop that I wanted some suitably odd processing.
It seemed to me like a giant petrified lizard or dinosaur like creature. Only when processing did I then also notice the footprints in the sand and the strong line of blue from the sea.

Revamp of the 2016 Bionicle Lava Beast set. Most of the sets from that wave were disappointing looking back, but I loved them when they came out, so I wanted to give this one some love.
The main inspiration was building around this frame .
I've had him in the works since 2019 but didn't work on him for a long time.
Thanks to Alex for helping a bunch with ideas, and Frog for helping edit the photo.

Two versions of a shot from Saint Mary's graveyard, during the Beast from the East. Whitby rarely sees this much snow and not for long as the sea air soon melts it. I thought the pictures had a spooky feel, for Halloween.

We usually get these nasty storms earlier in the year. History's track record has them in the latter part of may early June. But the last 3 years in south central Nebraska have all been those early July storms making them worthy of remembering.
We had tried to race this storm all the way back from Cozad but strong storm cells developed just to the north of the Interstate (80) and were destined to move south. We were east bound back to Kearney as we got slammed again once we got back into city limits.
Knocked out power to the city for about 6 hours.. Tons of transformers blew all over the town...
