Yes, those are grits: or as people say in the South, "gri-yts". (Almost two syllables.) (And I can feel the glare from Monique and Phyllis as I write that comment...)
Cheesy grits with sausage. Quite yummy, actually.
Seriously, though, they do tend to be something of a Southern specialty. We haven't seen them up here for sale; we actually brought a couple of packages (along with 10 pounds of frozen catfish) up from Arkansas the last time we were visiting. (And we plan to do so again.)
