Storm damaged but still determined to shine

Wind battered pine trees

This has one wild load and patina! When the chrome placard on the back end says "custom" ...it means it!

Happy Truck Thursday!

As you can see the bee is missing the tips of its wings. Possibly a bird tried to catch her and she escaped 😉 In any case, she was apparently too hot that day and had to take a break on my patio table 😃 This year there are more bees with us again and a greater number of species can also be observed. Have a peaceful MBT! everybody 😄

Kingfisher (f.) with prey.

West Lothian.

A long exposure, landscape image of the rocky coastline at Portknockie in Morayshire, Scotland, being pummelled by waves at sunset.

A slightly faster exposure than the one I uploaded the other day that better demonstrates the action.

No one gets through this life without getting a bit battered and tattered along the way, but you just gotta keep going.

Another storm and another cliff collapse have reshaped the coastline at Tongaporotu. The sea stacks called the Tree Sisters are holding up for the time being. When the oldest sister disappeared into the waves, the youngest sister was born out of the receding cliff and has only recently separated from it.

So many things to see at the beautiful salted ruins sim.

New Years Resolution......Get out and about more instead of sticking to a 7 mile radius from my home. I used to get out and drive a bit to different locations to take photos and made the sunset more important.

Went to the beach today. 20* and I froze my ---- off. Wind and waves off Lake Michigan that were phenomenal.

Preston Marina Common Tern with somewhat battered catch..

The result of winter storms on the Oregon coast!

With the wood debris also comes garbage, unfortunately. The other day I filled up a large garbage bag in about half an hour. The most common items I see are plastic bottles and soles of shoes! It's easy to think those things vanish into thin air when they are no longer in our possession - but they don't!

Under what could be described as a stormy sky, a dented and grimy 47337 approaches Mount Pleasant crossing in Southampton with an intermodal train for Southampton Maritime container terminal.

47337 carries the Freightliner 1995 livery, a modest variation on the two-tone grey railfreight livery of the 1990s but enlivened with red diaganol stripes.

Surprisingly the locomotive survived the great locomotive cull that occurred at the start of the 21st century. 47337 was rebuilt into 57602 and in 2019 is still operational, hauling sleeper trains between London and Penzance.

Another less obvious survivor is also visible: the wasteland that was Bevois Park sidings above the locomotive is back in railway use in 2019. The yard reopened as an aggregate terminal in December 2015.

A rusty HRT 1973 shoves a cut of lumber cars down the Battle Lumber spur. The crew will wait for an excavator with a claw attachment to load the cars with logs before they head back north to Lavonia, GA.

Hope you have a great weekend. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

Fancied a flower for a change & found this one taken at the beginning of the month in Kensington Gardens.

Shelved for the season…. School and sports.

I remember how much we would look forward to baseball season every year when my son was playing. The parents of all of the players on all of the teams became family. We would all be down at the field almost every night, even when our own kids’ teams were not playing. Those were special times. I feel bad for all the families that will be missing out on this this year. And don’t even get me started on the graduations and the college seniors that missed out on their last season and the NCAAs. I do understand the need to be doing what we are doing, but it is still sad. I am so thankful to have those memories. I do hope that families will be able to replace the team sports with something amazing that they never would have had time for if they were following the usual sports schedules, and that they will be creating memories that they will value even more. I bet that some will!

How about you? What are your plans?
