The view (from ~ 300 feet) on Bath Abbey and the city centre at night was taken from the Beechen Cliff Alexandra Park. Last December the centre of the city of Bath was transformed by impressive illuminations to support local economy and honoured efforts of NHS in these challenging times. It was aimed to make the Bath Abbey and the city centre visible from the top of seven hills all around Bath. I managed to do only two. Bath, England, UK.

Bath Abbey at night. The light through windows created attractive patterns on the ground. The Abbey doesn't have light outside normal open hours. This image was taken in evening before Remembrance Day last November, may be that was the reason. Bath Abbey, Bath city centre, BANES, England, U.K.

The scientific name of the Common Moorhen is Gallinula chloropus. The genus name Gallinula translates from the Latin as โ€œlittle henโ€, while the specific epithet made from two Ancient Greek words โ€˜khlorosโ€™ and โ€˜pousโ€™ meaning respectively โ€˜greenโ€™ footโ€™. Moorhens typically do not venture too far from the cover that river banks offer but it felt comfortable in the open in the company of a large group of mute swans nearby. River Avon. Every time when walking alongside this stretch of the river Avon and looking at this "river art" devoted to urban wildlife I was thinking about picture like that... Bath, BANES, England, U.K.

The illumination of Bath Abbey is still impressive and the evening streets are buzzed with people coming from all over the country for a Christmas treat at the Bath Christmas Market that celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Bath skyline at the start of Autumn

Not an easy image to pull off. Lots of dodging and burning and a lot of work cleaning up the stitches because the ice floes were really moving! I love this little city, and this scene from across the river. Maine is a cool place.

I got up early this morning to catch the full moon coming down over Bath. After the fun I had making image of the moon over Portland last month, I am eager not to waste any opportunity.

Getting this shot wasn't easy. I had to scramble through a lot of brush, along with the nice layer of ice we had from the last storm and dripping water coming from the overpass on the Woolwich side of the river . I found my spot and set up with the long lens. I experimented with different exposures to try and retain some detail in the moon, but it was just too bright to keep the city well-exposed at the same time. I made multiple exposures, thinking I would combine them later on the computer to get the moon right, but when I tried this it just didn't look as pleasing as this version with the blown-out moon. I guess I would say that the impression of the moon is what's important here.

The light was pretty incredible at this point. The deep blue hour, with the first light of day coming in behind me, really cast a beautiful glow on the city along with the artificial lights. A couple of clouds lined up to the side of the moon, filling my frame and catching some of the moonlight. The Kennebec River was full of large chunks of ice, moving downstream, causing the streaks in this long exposure.

The city skyline is dominated by the steeples and bell towers of City Hall, First Baptist Church, and the Winter Street Church. You can also see the holiday lights still in the trees down in the Riverfront Park.

A charming gargoyle statue with a hearty smile sitting on the top of a narrowboat. A new pedestrian bridge over the river Avon that joins the North and the South parts of Bath Quays can be seen in the background. Gargoyles traditionally used to decorate water drains on roofs of gothic buildings in the past and as ornamental features in modern architecture. Gargoyles thought to protect cathedrals and churches from evil spirits devouring them, hence many made with an open mouth. Well, this one is different - perhaps already did its deeds. Beautifully illuminated Pulteney Bridge reflecting in the river Avon. This 250-years old bridge was designed in Palladian style by a British neoclassical architect Robert Adam. It is one of the four bridges in the world that has shops along both sides of the bridge and is very popular with tourists. The bridge and the weir (part of which can be seen on the left) are amongst most photographed places in Bath. I like the light coming from the Terrace restaurant brining splash of red to the scene and a side illumination of autumn leaves completing the frame. Bath city centre, BANES, England, U.K.

I was so incredibly lucky to get this shot. This was only one I took. Positioned the camera on the ground, set off the timer, ran and jumped on the five bar gate!

A yet to be identifield HST (43179?) crosses Dolemeads Viaduct as it approaches Bath Spa station with 0900 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads on 23rd March 2014.

St John's Church and Bath Abbey (The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul) dominate the skyline, as viewed from Bathwick Fields.

Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel for the Great Western Railway, Dolemeads Viaduct was built in 1840 and forms part of the line between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington. There is substantial historic documentation on the development of the viaduct. The viaduct has 31 arches and is built in brick with a local Bath limestone parapet. Originally the viaduct was faced in local Bath limestone, evidence of which survives in places. The viaduct is still in use over 170 years later and the majority of the arches are now used as workshops, garages or storage units.
