To most the forest simply is the silent space of mind and spirit, a place where soul can fly with each step of foot on cushioned ground of moss and leaves. The sparkling water of the rushing stream provides roaring bassline to the wordless songs of birdlife. Careful as you walk deeper into the confines of the undergrowth, for this is also the seat of the magic of the fae. You may feel you walk alone but be assured that you are not! Unseen eyes watch your every move. Each brush against even the smallest stalk of grass carries message of your presence, just as vibrations along a spiderweb would.
... a break with form. I've been in London at The Cure gigs at Wembley with my brother. This is a composite of two ICM shots taken on the last night of the tour and encapsulates the essence of what it felt like to be there.
This was my favourite of the new songs, oozing with melancholy, and one of the best Cure basslines in decades.

Deep blue bleeding into black, latex catching light like liquid sin, silver crosses dangling like promises or threats—depending on who's asking. This isn't fashion. This is a manifesto.

Those boots—oh, those boots—covered in starlight or shattered glass or whatever gods sprinkle on footwear meant for dancing until dawn in underground venues where the music is loud and the lights are low and everyone understands the assignment.
This is Sisters of Mercy energy. This is Joy Division meets Siouxsie Sioux meets every darkwave playlist that ever made you feel something. This is goth not as costume but as religion. As lifestyle. As the only logical response to a world that's too bright and too loud and doesn't understand why some of us prefer our music dark and our fashion darker.
She's not trying. She just is. Born for basement clubs and foggy nights and that moment when the DJ drops the perfect track and you realize you're exactly where you belong.

That’s me as an author-mid-thought, mid-mug, mid-muddle. Feet up like I’ve conquered something, but really I’m just trying to outstare the desk until it gives up a good idea.
The books are judging me. The decorations are nostalgic but unhelpful. The plant’s thriving, which feels like a personal attack. I’ve got a speaker humming low in the corner, hoping a bassline will shake loose a metaphor. Nothing yet.
This is my ritual: sit, sip, stare. Let the shadows stretch across the wall like half-written sentences. I pretend I’m relaxed, but I’m actually negotiating with silence. I ask it nicely to hand over a spark. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it just watches me squirm.
But here’s the thing-I believe in this moment. The not-yet. The almost. The ache before the idea. Because when inspiration finally arrives, it never knocks. It just slips in quietly, sits beside me, and says, “You ready?”

Is it possible to fall in love with a virtual mate? In Second Life, couples prove that theory on a regular basis. They do fall in love. Sometimes, it lasts and sometimes it doesn't.
Those that last are a remarkable group of couples. They are remarkable both in SL and RL where the divorce rate matches the break-ups in SL!
My partner, Xavier and I enjoy SL very much. We dance, we explore, we network, we chill, we love and we have a blast doing silly things.
So many places offer romantic areas such as ballrooms, chill zones and explorations. Here are some of our favorites...
Avilion Ballroom is a special favorite of mine. It's where I first danced with my first crush... and now I dance here with my partner. Recently, renovated, the Avilion offers a beautiful place to romance each other.
Phatland is another. More jazz music than Avilion, Phat's is a sophisticated club for couples. Beautifully built, we seem to frequent this place a lot.
Another great ballroom venue is Frank's Place. A lot of avies hang out here, so do prepare for a bit of lag. I suggest that you arrive early so that you can grab a spot on the dance floor.
A smaller club that we frequent regularly is the MMAC Jazz Link. Every week, DJ VJ Shojo spins an eclectic set of jazz and indie tunes. Very chill and very romantic little jazz club. Dash Renoir is the perfect host there.
Then there's the beautiful Ballroom">Palace, where grand is an understatement. We usually arrive to a nearly empty place dancing alone in our own world. Very romantic.
But, the most grand of all is a recent discovery. Tempura Island and Ballroom is the epitome of a lover's paradise. Grand and magnificent, the ballroom is done in gold gilt, with a beautiful ceiling and wall textures. The stairs leading to the ballroom and castle are simple but ever so opulent. This is an LM that I have sent to all my friends! LOL!
And we still frequent the clubs that offer a place for us. A place where we can be a couple without the drama that other places bring...
We hit Dorian Gray for DJ Barbs set and Xavier set off his JMD particle hud for a romantic interlude on the dance floor. So fun!
A big thanks to DJ Dint Talon for an awesome night over at IPR365 Milky Way Entertainment complex's K-Lounge. OMG, we had a blast! DJ Dint was spinning an incredible set of jungle, tribal, trance... you name it, he was spinning it! We stayed until the end!
We also went to Bogart's Cafe which is kinda a ballroom and kinda a lounge setting. You can dress in ballroom or cocktail dress there. We often go in between clubbing for a quick ballroom dance to lovely jazz music.
We usually stop off at Spanish DJ Sonar Halsey's Future Club. It is always psy heaven there! And BassLine Island for some hardcore tunes to get the blood pumping. Both are fun clubs for couples to hang at and dance.
And when we explore, we always seem to find the cutest places such as Midnight City for NBC's romantic dinner club, Rainbow Room Dining and the Italian pizza place that reminds me of North Beach in San Francisco!
The other night, Xavi took me to NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's build featuring an interactive floor of of the entire world's atmosphere! Wow! This from the US Department of Commerce!
And, when we chill at home we can be silly and set off our particles and dance or pull all our emotes and gestures for hours of silliness.
Couples in Second Life are just like couples in real life. They play, they love, they emote real emotions towards each other... and as best friends, they share the best of Second Life together.
We have been having a lot of fun lately cruising from club to club, event to event. I have been avoiding the larger scenes lately just to hang with people on a more personal level. I miss that!
A few nights ago, my angel and I headed for a very late night chill time with one of our favorite dj's, Tasty Hax. I've known her quite a while and have always loved her spins and her conceptual group, Radiant Bliss Music Project.
Sexy, sweet and full of energy, Tasty brings a city-fied sound to the house tunes. Jazzy and sophisticated, we listened, danced and had a great time at Electro Violence that night.
I caught Tasty at Woods on the Beach the other night, too. I was only going to stay for 30 minutes but the tunes sounded so goooood! So I stayed for her set.
Now, for the hardstuff, I had to go to Domina Disco Club for a back-to-back set from dj IsitheDreamaker Teskat and dj Weyayman Howlett. That was a treat for me! Two incredible hardstyle dj's going full bore! Woot! I had a blast!
I had to buy some dj animations and some club stuff for myself. I had heard that Nutrie had expanded its retail offerings. Wow! Go check it out! I bought animations and all kinds of accessories there. Just tell Franta that Rafee sent you! And I loved the head sculpture... very cool.
Xavi and I went over to BassLine Island for a little dj Psycho Putzo craziness. He is hardstyle but with a more experimental noise and sound. I love it. Someone was passing out pogo sticks. Okies. This was a major hit! I swore I would never get off the pogo! LOL!
The other afternoon, I stopped off at Odessa. Dark psy was looming large as I waved to Micky and other friends. Intimate setting in the forest with a nicely designed dance area presents a nice place for dark psy music.
But, it's not only clubbing that we do. We went over to Meeting Support and donned the skis and took to the slopes. Weeee! That was an ultimate extreme sport! We even danced on our skis...lol! And, the balloon ride was very romantic... <3.
It's time for Halloween! While the rest of us get ready with costumes, party and events, Second Life sim builders have created several places for us avies to explore.
We went to a few last week and ran into some incredible builds and artwork. All included haunted houses, pumpkin patches, Halloween shopping and music.
Paradise City sim featured House of Horrors, a mesmerizing psy place with cuddle areas for avies. We snuck a kiss in the purple and red bedroom LOL!
At the Pixel Trix sim, we found Octobervile. Then, the Dark Dharma on Dacia provided halloween themed costumes. I liked this one a lot! Very scarey and very cool navigation through the haunted house. At the haunted house for Dark Dharma, we even did a seance listening to very spooky voice of Vincent Price. Ooooooo.
But the very best was at Le Cimetierie, an old build featuring gothic church. We came back to this one twice, taking pictures at the church with both of us hanging from the cross. (shhh... a couple of Catholics being so silly) Notice Xavier praying below me. LOL!
Also, the first party we hit for Halloween theme was at BassLine Junkiez. DJ Doubledown Tandino was spinning a 70's pimp party. OMG, I never laughed so hard. Everyone sported an afro including me. (I can't believe we all had the same things in our inventory)
Doubledown spun Super Fly and tunes from Jackie Brown. I had 5 inch platforms and a disco dress while Xavier was dressed quite like a gangster. So fun. One avie sported a full on drug dealer costume LOL!
Halloween is fun. Explore the SL sims and enjoy these fantastic displays of goth, horror and surrealism. Ciao!
I finally met DJ Zap Hax spinning at Electro Smog, New Berlin's underground club. WOW. Where the heck have I been? This DJ has a wealth... no a flippin' bank of knowledge about music. His musical experience as a DJ is very apparent.
Go, people... go listen to this DJ... and the club...? Electro Smog is right underground. January Lightfoot has created the most significant underground club that I have seen yet. (darn... now everyone knows... I've been secretly hanging out there...)
Speaking of cool DJ's... caught DJ Liqwid the other night over at BassLine Island at the Beat Bunker. Sven had just set the place into high gear when he turned over the booth to Liqwid. It's only been a few weeks since Liqwid hit the SL grid behind the DJ booth... he sounds like he's been here since day 1. Love his mixes.
Then I was off to Divaz... it's home for me and when I heard DJ Xavi Bandler was there with his Spanish entourage, I tp'ed as soon as I got the invite. Xavi and DJ Muekas has a new place called The Cave over on TheRave Beach sim. Very cool club. Dance in (that's right... IN) the river. LOL!
Have you heard of the Cults?
They are quite a mysterious group, their name is practicaly ungoogable.
But they have just released a super cute summer song. I still haven't figured out why they included some disturbing - to say the least - intro from Jim Jones to their super cute music, but being one with weird concepts myself, I can only especulate.
It does sound like something out of that Avatar movie, but I'll block this thought and go through with the description someone else has given: "'Go Outside' has the innocent and balmy feel that brings to mind Swedish indie pop, with a tinkling glockenspiel cutting through humidity, an appealingly lazy bassline, and joyous sing-along vocals. But for all its simplicity, there's some deep feeling coarsing through "Go Outside", and Cults transcend the song's Free Design-inspired 1960s pop origins."

The dominant male caribou trots among his herd on a beach at Pointe Riche, Newfoundland. This big boy chased off a young male that got too close to the harem, then just kept running for the hell of it. Lots of hormones flowing through him, I guess … October is mating season, though the females in the herd appeared not to have gotten the memo. The stag would lay down a bassline of deep, rhythmic grunting every so often and the womenfolk would just concentrate on eating the sparse vegetation.

Is it possible to fall in love with a virtual mate? In Second Life, couples prove that theory on a regular basis. They do fall in love. Sometimes, it lasts and sometimes it doesn't.
Those that last are a remarkable group of couples. They are remarkable both in SL and RL where the divorce rate matches the break-ups in SL!
My partner, Xavier and I enjoy SL very much. We dance, we explore, we network, we chill, we love and we have a blast doing silly things.
So many places offer romantic areas such as ballrooms, chill zones and explorations. Here are some of our favorites...
Avilion Ballroom is a special favorite of mine. It's where I first danced with my first crush... and now I dance here with my partner. Recently, renovated, the Avilion offers a beautiful place to romance each other.
Phatland is another. More jazz music than Avilion, Phat's is a sophisticated club for couples. Beautifully built, we seem to frequent this place a lot.
Another great ballroom venue is Frank's Place. A lot of avies hang out here, so do prepare for a bit of lag. I suggest that you arrive early so that you can grab a spot on the dance floor.
A smaller club that we frequent regularly is the MMAC Jazz Link. Every week, DJ VJ Shojo spins an eclectic set of jazz and indie tunes. Very chill and very romantic little jazz club. Dash Renoir is the perfect host there.
Then there's the beautiful Ballroom">Palace, where grand is an understatement. We usually arrive to a nearly empty place dancing alone in our own world. Very romantic.
But, the most grand of all is a recent discovery. Tempura Island and Ballroom is the epitome of a lover's paradise. Grand and magnificent, the ballroom is done in gold gilt, with a beautiful ceiling and wall textures. The stairs leading to the ballroom and castle are simple but ever so opulent. This is an LM that I have sent to all my friends! LOL!
And we still frequent the clubs that offer a place for us. A place where we can be a couple without the drama that other places bring...
We hit Dorian Gray for DJ Barbs set and Xavier set off his JMD particle hud for a romantic interlude on the dance floor. So fun!
A big thanks to DJ Dint Talon for an awesome night over at IPR365 Milky Way Entertainment complex's K-Lounge. OMG, we had a blast! DJ Dint was spinning an incredible set of jungle, tribal, trance... you name it, he was spinning it! We stayed until the end!
We also went to Bogart's Cafe which is kinda a ballroom and kinda a lounge setting. You can dress in ballroom or cocktail dress there. We often go in between clubbing for a quick ballroom dance to lovely jazz music.
We usually stop off at Spanish DJ Sonar Halsey's Future Club. It is always psy heaven there! And BassLine Island for some hardcore tunes to get the blood pumping. Both are fun clubs for couples to hang at and dance.
And when we explore, we always seem to find the cutest places such as Midnight City for NBC's romantic dinner club, Rainbow Room Dining and the Italian pizza place that reminds me of North Beach in San Francisco!
The other night, Xavi took me to NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's build featuring an interactive floor of of the entire world's atmosphere! Wow! This from the US Department of Commerce!
And, when we chill at home we can be silly and set off our particles and dance or pull all our emotes and gestures for hours of silliness.
Couples in Second Life are just like couples in real life. They play, they love, they emote real emotions towards each other... and as best friends, they share the best of Second Life together.
