The perhaps most photographed part of St Peter in Rome. But it is easy to see why.

In Italian the church is known as Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano. This late Renaissance church was begun in 1506 and not completed until more than a hundred years later, in 1626 - when the Baroque style had come which also influenced the building.

Another shot of the perhaps most photographed part of St Peter in Rome. You can never take too many.

In St Peter's, Rome. This pope died in 1823, and this monument was made by the Danish (but world-renowned) sculpture Bertel Thorvaldsen.

A good photo with nice people in the view, however, if there is any objection from anyone, then he or she should write to me at the following address:

If that is the case I will be glad to remove the photo from my collection.

Per la sua “capacità di sintetizzare messaggi e di comunicarli con immediatezza”, il

Bernini's baldachin is located in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome above the tomb of the apostle Peter. The baldachin was built in 1624-1633 by Gianlorenzo Bernini with the intention of highlighting the connection between the tomb and the basilica. The church was built on that spot because of that tomb. So they wanted to draw attention to the tomb of Peter and the papal altar.

The famous dome in St Peter's - this late Renaissance basilica which perhaps is the famous of all Christian churches.

Certainly my best hand-held night shot ever.

Last night I was walking in via della conciliazione with my girlfriend, and i didn't have tripod with me.

The San Pietro's view, however, was marvelous, so I switched on my on-camera stabilizer and I tried to shoot hand held.

This is the final result

The Vatican City in the early morning hours.

Michelangelo's Pieta (in Portuguese Piedade) is perhaps the most well-known Pietá and one of the most famous sculptures made by the artist. It represents Jesus dead in the arms of the Virgin Mary.

The ribbon that crosses the chest of the Virgin Mary bears the signature of the author, the only one known:

MICHAEL ANGELUS. BONAROTUS. FLORENT. FACIEBA (T), that is, «Miguel Angelo Buonarotus from Florence did.»

It is in the basilica of San Pedro, in the first chapel of the mall on the right side. Since the statue was attacked in 1972, it has been protected by bulletproof glass. It is 174 centimeters by 195 centimeters and is made of marble.

Michelangelo was 23 years old (1499).

Due to his young age, many did not believe that he was the author. So, that is why I would have inscribed the name on the band that crosses Maria's chest.
