It's always good to go back and study your basics. Especially when learning a new riding system! Nox is really enjoying his new Shetland Pet-to-Avatar conversion and wanted to join a beginner's working equitation class today to make sure he keeps a strong foundation.

No, I don't know why it came up in your mind, but this isn't a tiny breast. This is a tiny hill.
Here you see two "different" tessellations, backlit. Front and backside are now crossed, instead of beside each other. I did this because in my eyes all sides are fronts sides ;-))
They have been discovered by many people, so I call them "Basics".
Each folded from hexagon about 17cm, glassine, grid 1:32
Here you can see "Basics", in real life, using the same patterns, but folded with different paper.
Nothing new for people who make tessellations, but I thought it would be nice, for those who don't fold, to give a little inside how basics forms can be altered into different shapes. It's a little exploring I started during the summer holidays ;-)

My back to basics title refers to hating the New Flickr page....which has meant going back to basics and having to figure all the new functions. Having to find and re install new scripts and such for self and groups I admin.

Went out for a family walk to today and left all my new kit at home ( not out of choice my battery was dead once again when will I learn ) so I blew all the dust of my trusty nikon d90 and 18-105mm lens and went back to basics.

I haven't been on Pan Am recently, mostly because the power has been kind of 'meh', with NS motors taking over my neck of the woods. Plus, the trips to Lowell, Lawrence and beyond for blue leaders were getting kind of old - there are only so many angles to go around when you've only got so much time to invest. The blue GEs are very sharp, which means they tend to attracts crowds, and I'm admittedly a rather anti-social being. However, this was a good afternoon, chasing POAY (Portland to Ayer) through district 2. Here's the basic three-quarter shot of the train approaching Power Company Rd in Tewksbury.

I know this isn't the sort of post that many of you want, but this is my reality now.
You will have witnessed my transition over the years from those precious, stolen moments when I was able to engineer an opportunity dress - and where it was all about the glamour - to today, where every day is a Siân day.
Yes, I still love a bit of glamour (and always try to present well for work), but just as important is just being me - a stripped back, natural girl, without all the bells and whistles of yesteryear - indulging in my passions, such as running or watching rugby.
This weekend I helped out on a running retreat, guiding guests on various routes along the stunning Devon coastline. It was an amazing couple of days.
I never thought I'd get to do something like that as Siân, and therefore it makes it all the more sweet that I'm now actually doing it.
