My cheapest "hotel" to date. If there had been an alternative, I'm sure I'd have taken it, but a room here cost me 2000 CFA (about GBP 2.60). Breakfast not included.

A basic portrait I took of myself. 😊

Last weekend, I somehow ended up at a fashion show. There was some time before things got rolling to grab some behind-the-scenes posed shots.

The central focus of the complex is the tomb. This large, white marble structure stands on a square plinth and consists of a symmetrical building with an iwan (an arch-shaped doorway) topped by a large dome and finial. Like most Mughal tombs, the basic elements are Persian in origin. The base structure is essentially a large, multi-chambered cube with chamfered corners, forming an unequal octagon that is approximately 55 metres on each of the four long sides. On each of these sides, a huge pishtaq, or vaulted archway, frames the iwan with two similarly shaped, arched balconies stacked on either side. This motif of stacked pishtaqs is replicated on the chamfered corner areas, making the design completely symmetrical on all sides of the building.

2/52 for the group T189ers weekly alphabet challenge

This week's theme was: A is for Apparition

This was quite challenging, especially as I had an essay deadline looming and thus less time for photography than usual.

I had thought of playing with a long exposure in the woods, but I didn't have the time or energy and the weather was wet and dreary. So on the way to the Welsh class, I grabbed this quick shot of the Owain Glyndwr statue in Corwen and tried to make it look like a ghostly knight.

I'm not entirely happy with some of the cloning and a better starting image would have made things easier, but I think the basic principle has worked.

Iowa Interstate GP11 485 was parked in Iowa City awaiting its next assignment in 1996. It was still wearing its Illinois Central paint after being rebuilt at Paducah in 1979 from an old IC GP7.

It never received Iowa Interstate paint other than a solid yellow nose and a IAIS shield. It was sold off to ILSX in 2008 as IAIS was upgrading its fleet with modern power.
