Inside the Harpa lobby. D. Llywelyn Jones helpfully modeling. The Harpa is probably one of the most photogenic buildings I've ever been in. Nothing beats those basalt-inspired windows.

Sandwiched between extensions from 2 distinctly different eras, the original stone house still overlooks what used to be it's farm, bordering the Northern bank of Merri Creek.

I loved making this Tank. Such an interesting construction. I did modify to avoid showing my belly button, by adding half hexagons on lower front and back.

My first ever attempt at an automated panorama.
Note that the sun had come out when I took the last shot!
Cliff-side outcropping of pillow basalt (extrusive volcanic rock) along the west side of the port facilities at Port San Luis, north end of San Luis Obispo Bay, between San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach (Central Coast), California. Pillow basalts form during underwater volcanic eruptions (see Kilauea, Hawaii). These rocks are deep-water Franciscan, probably Jurassic-Cretaceous in age. This was a completely unexpected find for me so I only had my Iphone and the sun was in a bad position for photographing this, but it was such a spectacular outcrop that I had to grab some photos to share.

Gerðuberg
Gerðuberg is a spectacular basalt cliff on the southern coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland. The cliff is famous for its remarkably symmetrical hexagonal basalt columns, formed when lava cooled and contracted thousands of years ago. Rising in orderly vertical formations, Gerðuberg is considered one of Iceland’s finest examples of columnar basalt and is a popular stop for photographers and geology enthusiasts.
Snæfellsnes Peninsula Often called "Iceland in Miniature," the Snæfellsnes Peninsula is one of the country's most diverse regions, featuring volcanoes, glaciers, lava fields, black-sand beaches, fishing villages, waterfalls, dramatic cliffs, and rugged coastlines. Dominating the peninsula is Snæfellsjökull, the glacier-capped volcano made famous by Jules Verne's novel Journey to the Center of the Earth. The peninsula is widely regarded as one of Iceland’s most scenic destinations due to the variety of landscapes concentrated in a relatively small area.

This is the rare black form of Mourning Wheatear that may well be a full species in its own right. It only occurs in the basalt desert on the border of Syria and Jordan, and even there it is scarce. It is considered to be a Mourning Wheatear seemingly because it shares white wing flashes with that species. I have never seen typical Mourning Wheatear anywhere near the Basalt populations, but apparently occasional wanderers have hybridised with Basalt Wheatear. The song sounded different to Mourning Wheatear but I did not record it.
STOP PRESS: 14 years later in June 2021 the IOC announced that Basalt Wheatear is split from the Mourning Wheatear, and is now known as Oenanthe warriae.
