I think the last few times I've managed to get a shot of one of these little guys it has been the unfortunate prey of an owl - so it was nice change to get a shot of a live one!

Notice the dead looking tree on the right. It is suffering from Ash Dieback and like so many more Ash trees branches will break away and it will be felled.

Happy Bench Monday

Along the riverbank early Sunday

Just sharing another one from Portland as I haven't really done anything since. I'm sure I'm not alone finding the summer months really awkward for photography especially as there are a lot of clear skies and harsh light.

So I decided to stay at home this Bank Holiday as I can't face the crowds and the lack of parking etc. Yet I'm still finding myself with a sprained left arm after trying on my new sandals, strutting across the lounge only to end up on the floor, crashing into the corner of the wall on the way down. It reminds me of falling down the stairs during lockdown!

Staying in is dangerous!!

This is a view of Currituck Sound on the Outer Banks of North Carolina heading north from Duck to Corolla. The Atlantic Ocean is on the right of where I am. This photo was taken several years ago. I sure wish I was there now. The ocean breezes would be quite a relief from the heat and humidity.

Seen on the corner, it's been a Barclays Bank as long as I can remember and a bank in pictures over a century old.

It closes the doors for good in the first week of June 2020. Santander closed their branch further up the road in June 2017, and it still remains empty.

Banks closing in high streets is never good news to residents and local shops.

reminds me of Otis Redding (1967/68):

I'll be sittin' when the evenin' comes

Watching the ships roll in

Then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah..."
