Bank Holiday's in the UK tend to be remembered for the weather, which rightly or wrongly, is recalled as being usually wet and cold. I'm sure that if checked out, this might not be the case, but it's just the wash-out weekends that we remember.
The latest Bank Holiday was anything but a wash-out and the whole of the weekend for the majority of the UK has been one of blue skies and glorious warm sunshine. In fact records were broken after the Met Office declared it the warmest May Day Bank Holiday on record with 27.8° being recorded at Northolt in West London.
Now, I'm not normally one to complain, but, I have to admit that I struggle to enjoy that level of warmth. Spent the day visiting Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, near Ripon in West Yorkshire and found myself plotting routes around the estate that tried to keep us in the shade!
It's coming to the end of a rain affected Bank Holiday as 66056 comes off the Thrybergh Line and passes through Mexborough working the 6L55 Tinsley - Acton empty spoil train .

Back to Langstone Harbour, Hayling Island, Hampshire to capture the sunset again yesterday evening, it had been a nice bright sunny but fairly windy day which is so unusual over a Bank Holiday weekend - pouring with rain now!
Sadly not much cloud in the sky to be highlighted by the setting sun but plenty of colour in the sky being reflected on the harbour waters.
1/40 second exposure using a Lee 0.9 ND grad filter.

Typical bank holiday weather, its either snowing or raining, or like today, both.

In weather, that clearly took our forecasters by surprise, the sun actually came out in the south east, on Easter / Bank Holiday Monday morning. Taking my chances, I headed off to nearby Southend-on-Sea, with a couple of cameras. My main aim, was to get some shots, in the sunshine, with my Fujifilm X-T30 II camera and a XF18-55mm lens. And to take my pics on the classic chrome setting. Fujifilm have a varied menu of 35mm film simulation modes and that's one of them. Oddly, they never released a 35mm film called 'classic chrome', but whatever. I can't really explain what it simulates - one photographer suggested it mimicked classic '60's and '70's journalism and maybe that's as close as I can get, to describing the recipe.
