The West Virginia National Guard supported a Facing Hunger Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry distribution in Fort Gay, West Virginia, November 6th. The Facing Hunger Food Bank, based in Huntington, services 17 counties across the region and regularly conducts mobile distributions in 10 of those. For this event, 17 skids of food were delivered, enough to support approximately 800 families. Families received a variety of items including fresh produce such as pears, apples, and potatoes, frozen chicken drumsticks, uncooked beef patties, multiple dozen eggs, bread, bakery items, deli products, and other goods.

All seed collection is carried out under authorised permit and permissions.

As part of the World Book Night giveaway I went up to the food bank, based at Horizons. As well as having the pleasure of giving away lovely new books and chatting to people about them, it was also amazing to see the great work going on there.
Tasmanian Seed Conservation Centre (TSCC) Manager James Wood, along with TSCC and WILDCARE Cradle Mountain Volunteers spent a day collecting seed which will be stored for long-term conservation and research purposes at the TSCC seed bank, based at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. All seed collection is carried out under authorised permit and permissions.
