Celluloid bangles of different origins and made with different techniques. From left to right: a possibly French upper arm flapper bangle with rhinestones, a hand carved butterscotch "tube" bangle and three Japanese molded (not carved) floral bangles.
This bangle features a new technique I'm working with...so much fun!!! It's made purely from polymer (love that Kato for strength!!) and is light as a feather...
I've made rings and a few pendants as well using this, um, "technique" (I don't know that that's what you'd call it, but for lack of a better word...); will post images soon. Thanks for looking!
Bangles are rigid bracelets, usually from glass, metal, wood, or plastic. They are traditional ornaments worn mostly by South Asian women in India, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is a common tradition to see a new bride wearing glass bangles at her wedding. Bangles also have a very traditional value in Hinduism and it is considered inauspicious to be bare armed for a married woman.
My hallway still has some elegance, my kitchen is goodly stocked, and I still have most of the furniture. Many have had theirs either taken away, sold for more important things like food and warm clothing, or sometimes just used for kindling as it's not safe to go into the woods and chop wood during these times. But I'm young and pretty and I have my soldier and soldiers to cook for and it helps me help the others. We find we must do the best with what we have. So far I have been aided along my way, looking back it's been almost like stepping-stones guiding me through this. My mother used to say, "may a stone guide your way." May we all find the stepping stones through life's challenges.
This little thing was inspired by Nordari's new build "may a stone find your way," and a book I just
read, "The Madonnas of Leningrad," by Debra Dean.

i recreated my blue zipper cane in yellow. i think i prefer this variation they remind me of little corn snakes : )
Faced with turning old canes into mud, I remembered Donna Kato's "what you have" kaleidoscope cane. Didn't make a kaliedoscope though. See cane in the making: flic.kr/p/cjFR3d
This is a bangle made for The Wire Artisans Guild challenge Stardust and our great re-opening of our Etsy team store on Valentines day.
The movie Stardust begins and ends with the beautiful Lady Una living in the magical world of Fairie. Lady Una is kept as a slave for Madame Semele. She gives birth to the main character, Tristan, but has to leave him to his father who lives in "the real world". Lady Una is very much a charachter in the background, but the end of the movie reveals her well kept secret.
The colours of Lady Unas teal dress and the yellow/red carriage of Madame Semele (Ditchwater Sal) inspired me to make this bangle.
The bangle and focal, together form a clasp. You can see on the last image how to open and close the bangle. The trick is to angle the focal.
Material:
925 sterling silver and 999 fine silver wire and findings. Alex topaz briolettes (heat treated), ruby leaves and rondelles, citrine briolette and smooth rondelles and white cultured white fresh water pearls. Oxidized and tumbled to a nice shine.
Size:
The bangle fits an arm between 6"-7"/15-17cm. It moves around a bit on a smaller arm.
polymer clay bangle.
one side is purple and pink the other in pink and turquoise : )
i admit its a bit more organic than my usual bangle design but im kinda taken with it (if only because it required sooooo much less sanding than say my zipper bangles)
Taken at Pondy Bazaar during the 8th Chennai Photowalk. The place was at its cluttered best on Sunday evening, with shoppers and traffic jams galore.
