Clicked at around 7.15 pm when the show was yet to start and the organizer's of Sea Link were testing the laser display for the 8.10 pm show.

Bandra city scape.

Normally I take a picture of the same ocean from my home, this time I decided to do the opposite and take a picture of the cityscape and my building.

The Bandra Worli Sea Link is a 5.6-kilometre-long arc-shaped cable-stayed bridge over the impressive Arabian Sea, emphasized by Mumbai's beautiful skyline. The bridge is even more stunning when illuminated at night, making it an attractive visual delight. The Sea Link crosses Mahim Bay to connect the communities of Bandra and Worli. It reduces peak travel time between the two cities from 60-90 minutes to less than 10 minutes.

Situated on a quiet hillock in suburban Bandra, Mount Mary is probably Mumbai's best-known church for Christians and non-christians alike. As the name suggests, it is dedicated to the Mother of Christ and in September, the festival of the Virgin Mother culminates in a week long fair, popularly known as Bandra Fair, that has all the excitement of a small carnival. Stalls sell sticky Goan sweets and wax idols of the Virgin along with an assortment of candles shaped like hands, feet and various other parts of the body. The sick and suffering choose one that corresponds to their ailment and light it in Church, with the pious hope that Mother Mary will consider their appeals for help.

The new face of Mumbai, The Rajiv Gandhi Sea-Link or the Bandra-Worli Sealink connects the suburb of Bandra to Worli is southern Mumbai. This 5km long bridge is the first of its kind to be built here and is and important road for lakhs of commuters connecting the Suburbs to Downtown Mumbai.

On the far end (top left), you will find the Bandra fort, the Portuguese side of Mumbai (Bombay). My earlier image was shot from the British side. This image gives a clearer picture, a 6.5kms of sea-link, connecting the Bandra (read Portuguese) to Worli (read British), traveling over what was an international border in 17th century, between two countries operating 10000s miles away from their respective power centers.

While the island of Mumbai has been almost reclaimed, and this waterfront is now essentially a bay, the forts remain a popular tourist attraction, and reminiscent of power struggles in India's colonial past.

I have absolutely no idea what this man in the picture is doing. Felt like a good frame, so I took it.

Connected idea

The Bandra–Worli Sea Link, Mumbai officially called Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, is a cable-stayed bridge. Miracle of engineering.

Was exploring Bandra in an auto-rickshaw. The traffic light turned red. A photo was taken.
