Ballroom Goldstar... - It's been a while since I posted. It was busier on a personal level, but hey here we are back.... When we stepped here to the first vediep we quickly saw that we had to be careful. In it was a large hole and parts of the floor had collapsed. This abandoned ballroom is beyond saving, I'm afraid.

Old hotel which would have been rather nice in its day. Now rotting and destroyed. Visited for the ballroom - not much else left here.

I quickly grabbed this shot when I noticed the impressive waves of sheep in the field behind my house. It looked as if they were performing a dance routine in the snow, under the moody sky. The formation lasted only a few seconds, and then they were back to being randomly scattered!

The Tower Ballroom was built between 1897 and 1898 to the designs of Frank Matcham, who also designed Blackpool Grand Theatre, and it opened in 1899. It was commissioned by the Tower company in response to the opening of the Empress Ballroom in the Winter Gardens. The ballroom floor is 120 ft × 102 ft (37 m × 31 m) and is made up of 30,602 blocks of mahogany, oak and walnut. Above the stage is the inscription "Bid me discourse, I will enchant thine ear", from the poem Venus and Adonis by William Shakespeare. Each crystal chandelier in the ballroom can be lowered to the floor to be cleaned which takes over a week
The ballroom, together with the Tower, Circus and Roof Garden, were designated a Grade I listed building in 1973.
Several stories above and the sunset finds this empty ballroom with a photographer and his oldest daughter taking in the views.

Mirow Castle, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany
From 1749 to 1760 the baroque Mirow Castle was built according to plans by Christoph Julius Löwe. The simple building has a precious interior. Worth seeing is the ballroom with a lavish stucco decoration and wall decorations made of colored marble.
Giovanni Battista Clerici from Italy created this vivid stucco universe.
