Digitising negatives and prints, I came across these from my Second Visit to Ba Da Ling.

On this visit we went in the opposite direction to our First visit.

A very hot day, we took the gondola, thankfully.

If you visit here in 2018, then expect crowds of people, I visited last in 2017, could not move for people and queues. so disappointing.

Here I am on my first trip to China, long before Tiananmen Square, when China was first opening to foreign visitors. I still have that watch, though I went back to an analog, non-plastic watch some years ago. I didn't return to China until late 2014.

Great Wall of China 萬里長城

Badaling is the site of the most visited part of the Great Wall of China in Beijing. It is located approximately 80 kilometres northwest of central Beijing in Yanqing County. This section of the wall was built in 1504 during the Ming dynasty and has undergone some restoration since 1957. This is the first section of the wall that was opened to tourists. This section of the wall was visited by Richard Nixon during his historic visit to China in 1972 and has also been visited by Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan and Mikael Gorbachev.

What they really need here is railing. Forget birth control. Just send everybody on a hike. Darwinism at its Best. Personally, I could have used handbrakes. No one warned me that I might just get that 'snowball down a mountain' thing going upon my descent. I was practically airborne. I owe my life to one very sturdy Chinese man who will probably never forget the way I plowed into him and hung on for dear life. Xie, Xie where ever, whoever you are.
