Bacon's Castle, also variously known as "Allen's Brick House" or the "Arthur Allen House" is located in Surry County, Virginia, United States, and is the oldest documented brick dwelling in what is now the United States. Built in 1665, it is noted as an extremely rare example of Jacobean architecture in the New World.
The house became known as "Bacon's Castle" because it was occupied as a fort or "castle" by the followers of Nathaniel Bacon during Bacon's Rebellion in 1676. However, contrary to popular folklore, Bacon never lived at Bacon's Castle, nor is he even known to have visited it.
A shot from 2019 but one I never got round to posting at the time. Bacon Hole is a small bay tucked away next to Mupe Bay on the Purbeck coast in Dorset.

Located along some train tracks and sitting amid a moat of tall grasses and weeds is the old and abandoned Bacon Hotel. It was built by a man named James Bacon way back in 1912 and mostly served timber company officials or traveling salespeople. But the hotel only operated for a few years (which is surprising, with a name like Bacon Hotel you'd think it'd have more customers). The building would then become housing for families who worked on nearby farms, and was occupied until the 1950s. After that it was left vacant and abandoned. In one window is a faded and worn curtain, which occasionally flutters as it catches a breeze through the broken glass.

Bacon or Curtain Formations- Bacon formations are spaleothems that are thin sheets of Calcite and Iron Oxide that are deposited by water and drips from ceilings. Water is the main factor in forming bacon strips and will make a drapery formation when more and more water is left behind. These forms the orange and brown alternating bands that are make the bacon formations it's appearance. The orange and brown coloring is formed by Iron Oxide. If water continues to drop then stalagmites will form.
