'Compassion' with its scent of ripe peaches is in full flower on the back wall of our house right now

Call me biased I don't care! I have been in Sl since 2006 and have bought a ton of homes, but MZ Creations are truly the best... Quality outshines the competition! This is my Modern beach home by MZ Creations, decorated by me.

The spots on are on the backwall of greenhouse lichen growing on the walls..I liked the curve of the leaves of other plants around the bloom of the Bougainvillea flower..This flower is blooming in the greenhouse . This weekend going to take them out because I think all freezes are over now . Everything comes out of the greenhouse..Yippee ;)

Start of a serie of "Blankenese", a former fisher village in the West of Hamburg. Nowadays one of the most expensive places in Hamburg to live at. But very nice and interesting . This is an image of an architecture office which shows a view through the window at the backwall and the reflection of a building in the window in front. In the background you can see parts of the older houses...and not to forget the balcony. You´ll see more of them in the following images....very interesting in my opinion. I´ll be very glad if you should have the patience to have a look......

got a couple of pictures santos took of me while on a backwall dive the other day. if you want to check out more of his photo stream here is the link: www.flickr.com/photos/santos42/

inédit - spring 2019 session

I was setting up for a high key shot for today's picture and Jasmine was "helping" as usual. Once I got setup, I decided to use her for my test subject to tweak my lights/exposure settings. Well, sure enough, her photo was more fun than the set shots that I took. So Jasmine wins out. I'll save the other idea for another day and re-shoot it. If you look closely in her eyes, this is also somewhat of a self-portrait of me.

SB-600 zoomed wide on backwall, SB-600 through shoot-through umbrella camera left and high (seen in her eyes). Both fired via CLS using D700's pop-up flash.

RCD demoisaicing.

Custom B&W process in darktable.

Skogarfoss close up! I really pushed the camera to its limits getting this shot. Skogarfoss has fast become Iceland’s premier waterfall due to its beauty, accessibility and tremendous publicity, and so has been well and truly ‘shot’ by photographers. After taking a few shots from the usual vantage point I walked up stream, almost to the base of the falls. Here I tucked myself away in a slight hollow in the side of the backwall and watched the spray, looking for a pattern. After a while I noticed that the spray would only reach me every 10 seconds or so, but with the light fading fast it was going to be pushing it to rattle off a bracket before the spray descended. Setting up I covered the camera in a waterproof bag, dialled in the settings and waited for the spray to retreat. The breezed picked up and pushed the spray back and I took the bag off the camera and pressed the shutter. One, two shots and the wind is holding, but then half way through the third, longest exposure the spray returned and straight away everything was soaked, waterproof bag back on and retreat back to the campsite toilets for some paper towels!

So back home I held off editing this one as there were more water droplets on the images than I’d realised, also the clarity had been effected by condensation on the lens. Blending the 3 images together I purposely left the right part of the image dark, not bringing out the details of the backwall (it was pretty dark anyway!) and I’ve removed most of the water drops -but there are still a few in there! So even though the image isn’t technically perfect, I really like it, particularly the spray cloud forming over the plunge pool and the angle I’ve got on the falls.

Like the image? Press ‘L’ to see it large and ‘F’ to add it as a favourite, and feel free to leave a comment; it’s always nice to hear what you think.

Thanks for looking

I couldn't decide whether to name this 'Backwall' or 'Backyard' since its one of my local haunts.

Pittenweem is such a great place to shoot seascapes and the conditions change sometimes by the minute, making it a great place to shoot over and over. Now I'm getting too old for jumping off the breakwater into the sea so i take photos of it instead!

Riverwood m5 backwall

A long read but worth it to understand what is going on in this image! I have never seen this before and had to seek advice from clever people on a FB Group related to Insects / invertebrates. Dinocampus coccinellae is a braconid wasp parasite of coccinellid beetles, including the spotted lady beetle, Coleomegilla maculata. D. coccinellae has been described as turning its ladybird host into a temporary "zombie" guarding the wasp cocoon. The mature female wasp seeks out adult female ladybirds, although they will sometimes oviposit into a male adult or larval instar. One egg is planted in the host's soft underbelly. The wasp larva hatches after 5–7 days into a first instar larva with large mandibles and proceeds to remove any other eggs or larvae before beginning to feed on the ladybird's fat bodies and gonads.

The wasp larva inside the ladybird goes through four larval instars in 18–27 days. Meanwhile, the ladybird continues to forage and feed until the wasp larva, when it is ready to emerge, paralyzes the ladybird before tunneling out. It pupates in a cocoon attached to the leg of the living ladybird, whose brightly colored body and occasional twitching reduce predation. A growing D. coccinellae wasp nestled in its cocoon is extremely vulnerable, and other insects will devour it. If one of these predators tries to eat it, the ladybird retaliates, scaring it off. The ladybird becomes the parasite's bodyguard, by protecting it from predators. However, wasp cocoons protected in this way develop into adults that produce fewer eggs, due to the energy demands of maintaining a living protector.

Ladybirds paralyzed, twitching, and attached to the cocoon of D. coccinellae have been compared to zombies by many writers.

So there you go. Not everything in the insect world is as it appears!!
