Marty: "Let's land on him, we'll cripple his car."

Doc: "Marty, he's in a '46 Ford. We're in a DeLorean. He'd rip through us like we were tin foil."

— As the DeLorean hovers over the Ford

The Ford Super De Luxe was a model of vehicle manufactured by Ford during the 1940s. Biff Tannen owned a 1946 version in 1955 which was a convertible, painted black with a red interior, and had the nickname "Shiela". Its license plate number was 6H 96472.

Biff was the only person who knew the trick to starting the ignition, as he told Terry: "You just gotta have the right touch. Nobody can start this car but me." Biff still remembered the technique in his old age — much to the amazement of his younger self, who demanded to know how this "old codger with a cane" knew how to do this.

History

After being provoked by Marty McFly in Lou's Cafe on November 8, 1955, Biff and his gang chased him in the Ford around Courthouse Square before slamming into a manure truck. By November 12, Biff had the car repaired. In order to repair the damage to his car, Biff was pressured by Terry to pay $300 for the job, but refused payment. As he argued with Terry, both Marty and Biff's older self jumped into the Ford, with Marty hiding in the back seat. Old Biff drove the Ford back to his house and parked it in his garage before displaying the Grays Sports Almanac.

Later that night, Marty snuck away in the back seat again as Biff drove to the Enchantment Under the Sea dance at Hill Valley High School. Biff parked the vehicle outside the door of the gymnasium and returned to it after discovering that Marty had been after the almanac. Biff drove the Ford towards River Road Tunnel on the way home before Marty swooped in using the hoverboard. Biff and Marty fought over the almanac outside and in the tunnel, with Biff sideswiping the wall of the tunnel with the right side of the Ford. When Biff reached the end of the tunnel, he turned completely around and faced Marty who was still halfway inside. Biff charged the car towards Marty in the hopes of running him over, but failed when Marty grabbed a string of pennants attached to the DeLorean time machine. As Biff watched the DeLorean hover away, he crashed the Ford into a manure truck again, filling his car with manure.

It is unclear what became of the Ford after 1955, but it reappeared newly restored in 1985A where it was on display at the entrance to the Biff Tannen Museum, alongside a waxwork figure of Biff.

This was a custom order from a long-time customer. It is Marty McFly and Doc Brown from Back to the Future. They are in their outfit from the scene when the lightning hits the clock tower sending Marty back home. Enjoy!

Back to the Future Day — In #BackToTheFuture, Marty McFly saw an unmanned drone walk a dog (clearly, we're not there yet). However, did you know that the USGS uses Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for remote sensing?

At USGS, our National Unmanned Aircraft Systems Project Office is leading the implementation of UAS technology in anticipation of transforming the Department of the Interior (DOI) approach for collecting remote sensing data. UAS technology is being made available to monitor environmental conditions, respond to natural hazards, understand landscape change rates, recognize the consequences and benefits of land and climate change, conduct wildlife inventories and support related land management missions. The USGS is teaming with all of the DOI bureaus, academia, industry, state and local agencies under guidance from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the DOI Office of Aviation Services (OAS) to lead the safe, efficient, cost-effective and leading-edge adoption of UAS technology into the scientific research and operational activities of the Department.

More information on completed missions may be found here: on.doi.gov/UAS.

The Packard was a make of car in the 1950s.

Emmett Brown owned a cream-colored Packard Custom Eight Victoria and let Marty McFly borrow it for the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance. The car became the scene of the scuffle between Biff Tannen, Lorraine Baines, and George McFly.

When Marty returned for the second time to 1955, he drove Doc home after he fainted.

The Packard's license plate number was 8N39742.

My favourite car from the trilogy of the 'Back to the Future' films is the Packard Convertible owned by the 1955 era Doc Brown. Not necessarily obvious to recent viewers of the film, the Packard is one of the subtle references to the privilege background that Doc Brown would have come from. The Packard of the post-war period were a challenge to Cadillac as the very best car one could buy. The Custom Eight Victoria sitting toward the higher end of the Packard range. The 1948 was the first new Post-War Packards, still utilising the pre-war chassis and straight-eight engine.

One of the other markers of Doc Brown's status in 1955 is his house. The following are a couple of interesting links regarding both his house and the garage used in the first film:

Doc Brown house from the film is a fantastic early 29th century home; 'Robert R. Blacker House' (no relation). I encourage the reader to investigate this house further, as it is really exceptionally finished.

The second home used was 'Gamble House', designed by the same Architects:

This next link shows a visit by the SCCA to Gamble House with some great photos of very beautiful cars:

The BMW 633CSi is a model of BMW built between 1976 and 1989.

In 2015, Griff Tannen owned a heavily modified hover-converted version of the car, which was a convertible orange and black model waxed for him (two coats, naturally) by his grandfather Biff Tannen. Griff accidentally smashed his left taillight with his bat while swinging furiously at Marty McFly.

Actuality

Anyone expecting to see in 2015 a futuristic, flying BMW of the make and model featured in Back to the Future Part II is going to be disappointed, as the BMW 633CSi is no longer being produced.

As far as is known, BMW have no plans to produce a flying model in the foreseeable future. But maybe one day...!

The flying customised BMW 633 CSi from 'Back to the Future II' was the ride of Griff Tannen, the grandson of Biff (from BTTF I & II). Other than landing outside the Cafe 80's and being whacked by Griff's baseball bat, the car does not get to play much role in the movie.

I still remember the day I went to see the movie in the cinema back in the days! I can say with confidence that it is one of favourite movies of my life ever since I saw it first! It was the golden age of this world as well as my life's. I really want to go back in time...

The Hilux 4X4 is a pickup truck manufactured by Toyota, marketed just as "Toyota Truck" in North America from 1973-95 with no model name mentioned in advertising, promotional material, or on the trucks themselves after 1975.

In 1985, Statler Toyota received a delivery of a new truck painted in black. When Marty McFly returned from 1955, the improved present placed the vehicle in his garage and he had possession of the keys. Its license plate number was 2BAK860.

His plans shifted to driving Jennifer Parker up to the lake; however, Emmett Brown's arrival in the DeLorean time machine from 2015 halted those plans. Marty would return on Sunday to find Biff Tannen waxing his new truck. He drove to Jennifer's house and woke her up from the porch swing he and Doc had placed her on back in 1985A.

Marty and Jennifer drove past Hilldale where they had a recollection of the future, when Douglas J. Needles and his gang drove up beside them and challenged them to a drag race. Marty declined but after being called "chicken", he braced for takeoff. Marty drove in reverse at the turn of the green light and watched as the near lane was soon taken by a Rolls Royce, which he might have hit had he continued racing.

Marty drove Jennifer to the site of the DeLorean's destruction along the train tracks when they heard the sound of the pedestrian warning bells at the railroad crossing.
