We’ve all heard of rewilding as a form of ecological restoration with an emphasis on recreating an area’s natural uncultivated state. And that’s exactly what Janelle here wants to do - but with herself. She’s tired of all the unnatural modern conveniences, gizmos and gadgets and wants to take herself back to basics. It’s not a new concept but Janelle is taking it all very seriously. She’s purchased a small plot of land and is looking forward to foraging for her sustenance, sleeping under the stars and being fully in balance with nature.
Fast forward two years and Janelle is now living in a modern apartment in Knightsbridge after her book ‘Returning to my default settings’ went to the top of the charts and catapulted her to fame. She still doesn’t shave however and refuses to wear shoes. Old habits die hard.
‘Returning to my default settings’ is on an unwieldy bit of paper measuring 100 x 140cm and will look stunning once framed. She’s available to a good home so just drop us a line or she’ll be on our new website in due course (www.id-iom.com/).
Cheers

I wasn't sure I would still be able to write in shorthand any more! But was surprised how quickly it just flowed from the pencil.
Went back a very long way to my basic training as a Secretary!

I couldn't resist to draw a Chibi with the new pastels. And I recognised, that painting faceups changed my drawing style.

This gentleman was roasting coffee beans in an antique roaster from France. He is one of the people running the Atlin Mountain Coffee Roasters. They have a booth at the farmer's Market in Whitehorse where you can purchase some seriously good coffee.

A tile I made as a demonstration for a beginners's class - to show different possibilities of the very first tangles I teach. And then in Strasbourg, I stopped by at my favourite design shop, Urban Cocoon, to get some table card holders I use as tangle holders. Mentioned tangling to the proprietors. Got them interested :) did not have any business cards with me, so instead, I gave this tile (have taken a hasty photo before) :) Glad they loved it!
So, the number one lesson I learned on my road trip is that seascapes are hard. Really hard! After a couple of days of pulling out all the stops (tripod, filters, specialty lenses, long exposure) with very disappointing results, I decided to just enjoy a nice hike along the coast with Skylar with nothing but my camera and my old 28-105mm walk-around lens in hand. I didn't even have a polarizer on there. Just ... back to basics. No options!
Well, I think I got more usable shots from that one hike then the other three days combined. Sigh. Maybe nothing breathtaking, but nice respectable shots with decent compositions. And that was enough to make me happy. :)
I'm not exactly sure why, but there is something about this shot that I really like. I don't know if it's because it really evokes the mood and general look of the hike I took, or if it's the composition or just the softness of that lovely tall grass or ... I don't know. But I find it nice to look at and there's nothing about it that upsets me, which at the moment equals success. ;)
Hope you all enjoy it too.
Bus stop on 7th Avenue and West 12th Street. That reflection was so fantastic I couldn't believe my eyes!! I love the sense of a "paralel" reality at the other side of the mirror.
New York.
Ever since I read on Entertainment Weekly about this site, I've been happily converting cool shots into even cooler!! :-) All time Polaroid style! YAY!
(Just for MAC users for now, sorry folks!! For once, we MAC-anites get something first!!).
