Though I've never made it inside (when this photo was taken), understand that this oddity in the center of the frame contains a half spiral staircase...this is the backside of the Bank Tower and directly adjacent to the old Peoples Savings Bank which faces 4th Avenue in the old financial district.

My interior staircase study set found here

Backside of a carved tiki in a shop at John's Pass on the west coast of Florida.

Using 2-SB900, 2-PCB's PLM 64" Soft Silver, PW TT1/TT5

PLM is set at front left and front right, both pointing downward (around 45 deg), and camera is at the center of the two PLM, closer to subject. Th SB900s were triggered by PW TT1/TT5 using manual mode with output power = 1/4.

Post processing using Lightroom 3 and Nik CEP4 using Bleach Bypass filter.

This is the backside before I added the fleece blanket. I used satin.

Finally got back out on the water yesterday. Got some remarkably good weather and great water for a New Years Day run in Seattle.

Took a few shots while we were out... this is my buddy Troy spinning backside off of a roller.

*Photo taken at Indaiatuba Skatepark in Indaiatuba, Brazil

Joe Winters.

Backside ollie from quarter to quarter.

Love the lighting on this one.

Shot with a Nikon D300S with an 18-55mm at 26mm. 1/250 f/6.3 ISO 320.

Two flashes, 1 Vivitar 285hv to the left of shot, full power, mounted on a tripod, and one Nikon SB-18 to the right of shot just above the quarterpipe, full power.

More from last spring's trip to Vilnius, it's Jöle Juntunen backside kickflipping this beast of a bank. Beast indeed, I shot this 10 minutes after the bank totally destroyed my ankle and took me out for the whole summer.

This was definately a highlight of the day: we started the day off by skating the wrong plaza, got taken to the police station for an hour or two and received some quick winning tickets for skateboarding. After that we went to some hectic outskirts of the city, populated mostly by alienated russians. Didn't find any good spots, just wanted to get out of there.

Then we got to this spot. The bank was really steep, but it was surprisingly good to skate. There's a channel on the bank, below Jöle's board in picture. Wille started trying frontside ollies over it, and landed them in no time. Inspired by Wille I started trying backside ollies over the gap, got pretty close to pulling it, but instead blasted my ankle. My man Jöle sealed off the session by blasting this nasty backside flip.

Shot with my Pentax ME Super & SMC 50mm 1.7 lens with Kodak Portra 160NC film. 1/1000 second with the lens wide open at f1.7. Published in Hang Up magazine 3/2008 in Jöle's interview, too small of course ;). See it a bit bigger.

It's a funny thing.

All the while as I was making this outfit I was "making it for Juan".

I mean, it had my measurements & all, but this was clearly for someone else.

Some character or persona I have yet to inhabit & grow into.

And as I've said before, this is an outfit I could never have dreamed of or justified making for myself, no matter how much I wanted to. Like most working artists, I can't afford my own art!

It dawned on me yesterday that I had to claim it as my own...

This morning, after breakfast, I asked Denny to help me into the garment, tucking the shirt in, adjusting and tying all the ribbon ties, laces & grommets. It took about an hour to fit everything perfectly on me. Hopefully, it will be much faster to put it on the next time(s), as the ties are now adjusted, double-knotted and secured.

What do you think? Methinks I look pretty smashing in this! :-)

With the hat and a beard dyed red and trimmed, the illusion will be complete.

New work for the Mahila Moments series, currently on show at Mocha Arthouse, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi

Pen, color pencil and acrylic paint on paper. Dimensions 5.75 inches in diameter

The idea for this came from some of the more straightforward poses in the K'sutra. Further inspiration came from gap boxers, ink blots and bata chappals.... and ofcourse Bino K. John's book title Entry from Backside Only

The backside at Ghirardelli Square.

After a very good breakfast, we decided to have a walk in shibuya, and we went down the love hotel hill to find a residential area filled with small houses and without shops.

Beside there was not so much to do nearby but it was interesting to realize that Shibuya is more that a shopping area. People live here !

See this place in google earth

model: Michelle Carroll

MUA: Annicia Davis

dresses: courtesy of Ash Couture

This is the fourth time I've shot Michelle. I met her awhile ago through Model Mayhem. I was the first one to shoot her after she joined there, and since then she's gone on to do a lot of cool things in the modeling world. As we both keep growing in our respective crafts, it's always good to meet back up and work together again.

For many of the shots in this set, we had to hurry, so I often didn't have my lighting positioned perfectly, but that's usually how it goes, and I think we came out OK overall.
