It was a wild block party. Despite it being midnight on a Sunday, the party was going hard, and we joined it. We ambled to a few bars, learned how to cheers, watched a volleyball-like game where people used their feet, and accidentally walked into a whore house.

The whore house looked like a bar. That doesn't mean we weren't stupid for walking in. It was empty except for Vietnamese women in a place where all the other bars had guys in them. It had a red light outside. We were dumb, no doubt.

We figured out our mistake the instant we sat down and got crowded by girls. There was a unanimous, "Shit!" said under everybody's breath, but we had already ordered drinks, and damned if we were going to abandon those $2 beers. We then carried on a conversation with the girls at the same time we held a conversation under our breaths with each other. We ultimately determined that there was probably no open container laws in a land that had whore houses where any innocent backpacker could just wander in and fled with drinks in hand.

This was still less embarrassing than that time we walked into an flamboyantly gay bar in Scotland.

So this is where we (and pretty much everyone else) stayed when we arrived in delhi... its not really very nice and was all a bit overwhelming for me so i didn't get any shots at ground level (with all the cows, rubbish, dogs, poverty etc.) This photo was taken first thing in the morning, pretty shortly after first light and is (another) example of the air pollution in delhi. "isn't it misty?" we thought when we arrived....

Maybe he needed a lovely hat or parasol to complete his look. Alas there were two others in his company, similarly dressed, but too cunning to be caught in one fram at the same time.

Backpackers Hotel is popular among the low budget travelers. They have a restaurant and bar. The bar becomes a disco and gets lively on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights.

ゲストハウス松本バックパッカーズの内装です。One of the rooms of our guesthouse, "Matsumoto BackPackers".

this guy looks ready to travel and discover vietnam!

John, Freddie & Lance on the summit of Great Gable after the Fell & Rock Climbing Club ceremony of remembrance. From here we descended to Sty Head then up to Sprinkling Tarn and down Ruddy Gill to Grains Gill, Stockley Bridge, Seathwaite and back to Chapel House Farm campsite. After a brew I packed up and headed for home well-pleased with my five days of walking in wonderful Lakeland. We are all so hyped-up we have agreed to make a winter attempt on a winter traverse of the Four Threes: the 46 mile circuit of Skiddaw, Scafell, Scafell Pike and Helvyllyn early in the new year. I've failed on two previous solo attempts but have three successful summer completions under my belt and want a winter traverse too. Watch this space...
