Backwards Garden, Sunflower - A full bloom sunflower facing the sun, away from my camera. The small sweet pea flowers are singing in chorus in the background. Central Phoenix, Arizona.
I used various stamps from the following: ;Kimono Silk: LL646 Asian; Asian Designs: LL688 Kimono Silk; and Asian Kids: LP161 Asian Kids. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear detail embossing powder. I used actual Japanese Washi paper for the butterflies, the kids clothes and the flowers. The Thank You tag and the kids are mounted with pop dots and I embellished the tag a bit with crochet thread. I used Stampin' Up Certainly Celery and Bordering Blue inks. Hope you like itI!

The neutral background does not distract from the main subject in the foreground. All the emphasis is on the leaf and not the uninteresting background.

Time Shifts: Sequences.
Two animation sequences of the same event are being played out. The background movie is close to real time, but plays on a loop, fading more and more with each iteration. The foreground movie – what is captured within the lenses – is extended time, playing through only once.
The choice was made to shoot hand-held still images over video to simulate breaks in time that may be experienced when in an altered state of consciousness.
Using an iPhone, 80 still images were captured one after the other, as quickly as the device would allow. Each of the 80 images was resized in Photoshop from 3264 x 2448 at 72 ppi (approx 2 MB each) to 1280 x 960 at 72 ppi (approx 800 KB), and then imported to After Effects.
Two animations were created and rendered separately using the exact same set of 80 images, one “fast” (2 minutes and 40 seconds, 6.51 GB), and one “slow” (16 minute, 38.69 GB). Frame rate was set to 12 frames per second. (This seemed a better solution for a sequence of jpgs instead of the standard 30 frames per second.) Since a second render would be required to compile all elements of the movie, no compression was used for these original animations (hence the large file sizes).
In constructing the final movie, the “fast” background animation was set to loop six times. The “slow” foreground animation played through only once and was masked with circle shapes to create the lenses. The masked animation was then duplicated nine times, and a time stretch was applied (increasingly stepped to each layer) to create the motions trails.
