I have some commentary to go with this one. Hope you feel like reading!

Several things to talk about.

First.....I will be taking a bit of a Flickr break for a couple reasons. I'll be busy at work this coming week anyway and it makes it hard to go around and comment on contacts.

I don't like to really post unless I can do that.

Second, a little burn out. Maybe needing some time away to think about some of the things lately on Flickr that bother me.

There's been alot of "discussions" recently posted with photos about all the new groups that have been started with seemingly the purpose of faving/commenting within the group heavily to achieve explore. I actually was invited and belonged to the ExCa group for about a day or two before quitting. I joined because of an invite, but quit when I sensed that there really was a motive within the group. Now there are 2 new groups started, with many of the same people, for probably the same reasons. They are Golden Garden and L'amicizia fa la differenza .

There is no question that within these groups much more commenting and faving goes on than the usual. And if you look at explore over the last couple months, the same faces are always there, good photo, or bad. In my year and a half on Flickr, I have not been aware of this going on before recently. The HS popularity contest is getting old. ( Or maybe it's just me getting old!)

Those of you belonging to the groups mentioned....ask yourself why....really....why do you? Be honest. Are the drive by meaningless comments what you really want? I'm sure I have offended some, sorry for that.

Third....I've been going over my contact list and cleaning it up. Mostly looking at the reverse list, which amazes me, because there are 1220 people that "call me a contact". That's what's left after I went thru each and every one of them and checked their profile pages. Automatically deleted those that had upwards of 600 contacts. Some of them had 8000-9000 contacts listed. Sorry, but I don't care to be one of them!!!!

So why do 1220 people call me their contact??

There's a group of you that visit regularly, but what of the others? Why have they included me on their list if they NEVER comment?

I suppose everyone has a different definition of what it means to be a contact.

I guess I hit a wall today, and feel a need for a new perspective.

I really enjoy my loyal contacts, and seeing your posts.

And I appreciate your support and helping me get to explore the number of times that I have. Being seen on FP has connected me with alot of you, but it also gets to be too important in the scheme of things.

Now if I don't stop, I will begin to ramble. Congrats to you if you made it to the bottom of this post!!

Have a good week everyone...see you sooner or later :)

And hopefully when I post again, a few of you will still be hanging around my stream!

ODC Back To Work

She was checking out the shed, making sure there wasn't anything in there.

first day back to work during this pandemic. weather was quite warm to be wearing boots but no matter. i’ve done it before on much hotter days. a simple tunic completes the outfit.

...For those who doesnt understand the word "Suprabhatham", it's "Good Morning".

And the rest of it means- The festivities are over, now in the morning there is work to rush to, tuitions to go to and a hundered other things to handle....

The past fortnight saw the run up to Onam and the after effect of the festival that lingered around like a delicious hang-over.Everyone was busy preparing for the big Onam day starting celebrations on Chingam Onnu and then Onam came with all its splendour and cheer. Even though I live away from my state, Kerala's television channels have to a great extend brought about the enjoyment and the mood to our homes here. The only thing they fail in is giving us a taste of the "real sadya"( the traditional Onam lunch with 24-25 varities of curries and 2-3 types of dessert(Payasams)).Maybe someday that will happen too....:D.

And then the fun days suddenly get over and life is back to its routine churn.

This image from my archives reminded me of a scene right out of one such routine Kerala mornings- The sun would rise warm and mellow, lighting the tarred country roads and gleaming it like bright copper. The old woman reminded me of Karthu, Kochuvalli,etc- dark wrinkled yet agile women who used to come home to sweep the courtyard and help around the house, the boys riding the bicycles with their books in a textile shop's plastic bag tucked into the carriers rushing for tuitions and the men in motorbike speeding away to finish some unfinished tasks during the day.

I grew up seeing many a morning scene as this. But it became special for me when i captured one such moment for posterity. This image is quite apart from my usual subjects of photography. And it was nice to try this after seeing several such wonderful moments captured by some of my keen-to-see-life-around friends like Nasseer Ommer,Smevin and several others from Discover Planet - a group of photography enthusiasts.

I'm in awe as to how clear the photos are I take with my iPad Pro.

She heard something out in the front yard and listened diligently. Not sure what she heard, but with her ears it was probably "everything!"

I just would like precise a point. You know that I fear all sort of insects and bees are not an exception, so for them who said that I am courageous, it is wrong, the little bees were inside a glasse box, if not you can imagine me running and crying !!!!!!

Comme les abeilles, nous sommes des millions à reprendre le travail, alors bonne semaine à tous et bon courage !

Like bees, we are millions back to work, so good all week and good luck !

It's always such a rush to get everyone out the door at the beginning of a new week. I always feel like I'm forgetting something. Oh well. HBM!

Monday morning, the happiest moment in the week... :)

well i'm no Joe McNally, or Guy Tal, and i don't have any lights, therefore the Zack Arias stuff i can only imagine, so it's back to work for me punching the clock for the man; and i'm working nights so the gorgeous light, if i ever see any, will be hard fought for indeed. but this most excellent camera-club called Flickr that i joined a year ago has proved immeasurably rewarding and i really enjoy the friends and acquaintances that i've formed here with you guys, and with much credit to the inspiration of you all, have grown a bunch since then as a vision-monger, so i'll try to keep regular but i'll certainly be somewhat distracted by the exhaustion that accompanies manual labor. so keep your batteries charged, keep visualizing better images, and have a nice day from your friend Nate in Maine Usa! see ya full-time with the creative stuff when the season ends in november-

Back to the gym after a week away -- a week where I was held captive by work.

This morning's start was tough, and after, even reaching for the towel hurt. I felt I had to document it, if only as a reminder to myself.* Also, the bling bokeh is nice and a shooter can't pass up a photo opportunity anywhere, right?

I was AWOL on flickr this weekend. My eyes were killing me and I could not look at a computer screen after 10 - 12 hour days last week. Will catch up with you all asap.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

xx

*A reminder to make time for me, and the gym AND to keep my iPod juiced up, so I won't have to listen to gym music. Ok, Beyoncé, I get it... "if he liked it he shoulda put a ring on it" LOL

because seriously, why should I be the only one with this "catchy" tune stuck in my head!

March 18, 2020 - I picked up a cup of hot Comfort Wellness Brewed Tea from Starbucks today, celebrating my return to work! Thank God!

Happy Blue Monday

in case I have to referee any more stupid childish co-worker squabbles.

or remind anyone not to be an asshole.

or, you know, smite somebody.
