Snapped up on eBay about a year ago (love 'em saved searches), given that I was 6 years old and living on the other side of the world when this was released.
My mini-memoir has developed its own momentum. This week’s Nomad theme has moved on to ‘absent friends’, but I’ve started so I'll finish. I do this because I want ‘sign off’. Something seems to have triggered my ‘work ethic’. I want to de-trigger it.
I spent the first half of the nineties as a ‘job-seeker’. I was unemployed and there weren’t any jobs to be had. I didn’t waste much time applying for jobs that weren’t there. Instead I did some fundamental research, learnt new skills, did a bit of voluntary work, and networked until after four or five years I found temporary work as a CAD draughtsman. This led to other things and by the end of the decade I was a company director, but I had drifted away from architecture into the weird and wacky world of product launches and brand imagery.
What image will I use? I’ve said that I want to switch off from work and by the end of this decade I’d begun to travel, so I’ve chosen a picture that hints of faraway places.
Today's word of the day is listless, which comes from list (desire, inclination), from Old English lystan (to be pleasing) and is ultimately from the Indo-European root las- (to be eager), which also gave us lust. Earliest documented use: 1440.

That's right boys and girls! Retirement is Officially Over! I interviewed for a position 2 weeks ago and received an offer of employment on Friday. I start work tomorrow morning! I'll probably be happy for about 2 weeks :-)
Anyway, I really need my mother's health to maintain itself; so I'm asking all of you believers out there to say a prayer for us. All of you non-believers can just, well, you can say a prayer too, darn it! At the very least send good thoughts this way!
Oh yes, this is me trying to figure out what to wear for the first day of school, um, I mean WORK! It would probably help if I could remember which suit I wore for my interview, so at the very least I don't repeat that!
hmmm, early start this morning =(
I thought this shot accurately represented my bleary eyed start back at work; the darkness of the office broken only by the bright green blob of Microsoft's attempt at 'eye candy' beckoning me to start up Visual Studio and start code-monkeying.
Unfortunately, my car wouldn't 'start' this morning so had to get the train in. Not the best of 'start's to the working year!
