Notice that the term "ASA" does not appear here, just "exposure index." Unrest was brewing that the official ASA determination of film sensitivity was understating most films' effective speed by around a whole stop. Obviously if you are Kodak you have some clout on this topic and soon enough the ASA methodology would be revised. It is only in 1960 and later that Tri-X was officially ASA 400!
Looking at the "basic sunny-day exposure" recommendation of 1/250th at f/16, the sunny-16 rule would suggest a practical exposure index of 250, perhaps because slide film can blow out highlights so easily.
Ex Southern Railway 'U' Class No 1638 on Freshfold Bank on the Bluebell Railway.
The late George Nickson, who was responsible for saving the loco from Barry Scrapyard Who subsequently donated it to the Bluebell.
And I did...for those of you who missed the boat, Mark Dancey churned out Motorbooty in the mid-90's as some sort of caustic salve for the post-punk packaged landscape of Lollerpaloozer boycotting grumps. Everyone was fair game, and the lines were always nice n' thick as you can see from the above scan. While I did partake of Big Chief, and thought the 40 oz. bottle filled with ground meat was one of the best visual things of the whole "grunge era" *shudder*...he has a lifelong admirer for the faux-1940's zine "Nuts To You!" that came with an issue of Motorbooty. Lucky for you, you can totally still get it right here! Who says the internet is good for nuttin'?
